What Is The Line Smith?
The Line Smith is a Dutch specialist brand built around one job: kite lines, done properly. Lines are made to order using ultra-high-performance Dyneema, chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio, low stretch and long-term durability compared to the generic lines that ship with most stock bars. Because they're made to order rather than mass-produced in fixed batches, The Line Smith can supply sets for pretty much any bar, any brand and any age of kite — useful if you're running an older bar that the original manufacturer no longer stocks parts for.
They're also behind The Line System, a modular, interchangeable line setup that makes it possible to replace and maintain lines yourself without sending the whole bar away for a service. Whether your setup uses that system or a standard fixed line configuration, the ordering and fitting process is the same from our end.
Why Replace Your Lines?
Kite lines take a beating — UV, salt, abrasion through the bar and repeated loading all shorten their working life. Stretched, fraying or mismatched lines throw off your kite's trim, make it harder to fly symmetrically, and in the worst case, fail at the wrong moment. If your lines are a season or two old, showing fuzz or fraying, or you've noticed your kite flying slightly unevenly, it's worth having them checked — and replaced with something better than the stock spec if you're doing it anyway.
