Description

The Circle One 9'6 Bamboo is a versatile longboard for riders who want one board that can do it all, from mellow first waves to the occasional noseride when the swell allows. Shaped from sustainable bamboo using Circle One's own bamboo-epoxy lamination process, it's built to glide through small stuff while staying lively enough to keep progressing on.

What's the deck built from?

Each board is laminated from natural bamboo, so the colour and grain vary from board to board — no two are quite the same, making yours a genuine one-off. The bamboo-epoxy construction gives a strong, flexible ride that classic foam-and-glass boards can't match, and bamboo itself is a fast-growing, sustainable material that needs no pesticides or herbicides to produce.

Who shaped it?

Every 9'6 Bamboo is shaped by Jeff Townsley, founder of Circle One and one of the original British surfboard shapers dating back to the 1970s — decades of shaping experience distilled into one versatile, all-round template.

How does it ride?

  • Low entry rocker and full outline — glides effortlessly through small waves and catches them early
  • Round pin tail — keeps the board fast and loose with a clean release through turns
  • Quick midsection — lets progressive surfers work the board rather than just trim it
  • 2+1 fin setup — ride it as a classic single fin, or keep the side fins in for extra bite and hold
  • Single concave running to a slight V in the tail — smooths the transition from nose to tail for a controlled, predictable feel

Sizing

9ft 6" x 23" x 2¾" — 73.64 litres. Suited to rider weights of roughly 60–110kg, from novice through to advanced.

What's in the box

The board comes fitted with a set of premium matt-finish honeycomb fins (FCS-compatible) via FCS Fusion finboxes — the strongest pre-glass fin system on the market. A full package with travel bag, leash and wax is also available separately if you'd rather kit out in one go.

Who it's for

New surfers catching their first waves right through to experienced longboarders after a fast, playful all-rounder. At home in small, gentle surf around 2–5ft, where its glide and easy paddle power really come into their own.

Rider verdict

A genuinely do-it-all longboard — easy enough to learn on, lively enough to keep progressing on, and no two boards look the same thanks to the natural bamboo finish.
