Description
The Circle One Pulse 8' Mini Mal is a beginner-friendly mid-length from the Australian Board Co range, built for riders who want an easy, forgiving board that still turns when you ask it to. With just under 58 litres of volume it paddles and catches waves with ease, and it works equally well as a first "proper" board or a family board that bigger kids, teens and adults can all share.
What makes it easy to ride?
- Pulled-in round square tail — holds a line well when trimming straight but still lets you swing the tail loosely through turns.
- Double concave through the tail with a V — keeps the ride lively and responsive rather than stiff.
- FCSII finboxes — the strongest pre-glass fin system on the market, supplied here with a composite FCS1-style thruster fin set fitted; FCSII fin upgrades are also available if you want to fine-tune the feel.
- EPS core with epoxy resin laminate — a light, buoyant, high-density foam core wrapped in premium Porcher E-glass fibreglass, with crosslink reinforcement through the deck and rails for extra impact resistance.
- Full-length 4-ply wood stringer — unidirectional for strength with controlled flex, plus a durable hot coat outer finish.
Sizing
8' x 22" x 2¾", 57.73 litres of volume. Best suited to riders around 60–110kg, and happy in everything from knee to head-high surf.

Who it's for

Rider verdict
An honest, no-fuss beginner mini mal — plenty of paddle power to get you into waves early, with just enough tail looseness to keep things interesting as your surfing improves.
