Naish Hatch V2 | Parawing

The Hatch V2 is Naish's second-generation parawing, and it's a ground-up redesign rather than a tweak. Built for stability, wind range and shape that lasts, it's aimed at anyone chasing longer, more confident downwind and swell sessions — from riders stepping into parawinging for the first time to experienced foilers who want something more predictable underhand.

What's changed from the original Hatch?

Just about everything. A more robust profile, reduced sweep and stiff Nitinol profile rods work together to deliver predictable power and strong upwind drive, and crucially the wing holds that shape over a season rather than going soft. The bar is new too — ergonomic, with a patented retractable harness line that keeps the control area clean and tangle-free.

Why the wind range matters

The reworked profile adds stability and control across a noticeably wider band, so you're not swapping sizes every time the breeze shifts. Bar feel is super light, which sounds like a small thing until you're an hour into a downwinder and your forearms are still fresh. Less fatigue, longer sessions.

Stowing that actually works on the water

Parawings live and die by how easily you can stow and redeploy mid-session. The V2 uses an instant-stow A-line setup with soft-touch UHMWPE lines on the A-cascade for quick grab-and-pack, while stiffer, thinner polyester-sheathed lines through the rest of the bridle cut tangles and clean up the aerodynamics. Shorter bridles overall mean less line to manage. Colour-coded bridle lines let you find the right line fast and relaunch without the guesswork.

Sizing

Five sizes — 2.1, 2.8, 3.5, 4.3 and 5.1 — covering everything from powered-up days on the small end through to light-wind downwind gliding on the 5.1. Most riders end up with two sizes either side of their usual wing.

Who it's for

Downwind and swell riders who want a parawing that's stable enough to learn on and capable enough to keep. The improved stability genuinely helps beginners, but the upwind drive and bar feel are what keep experienced riders on it.

Rider verdict

Parawings have moved fast, and the honest weak point of the early ones was shape retention and faff on the water. The V2 addresses both directly — the Nitinol rods keep it flying like it did on day one, and the stow setup means packing down mid-run stops being the thing you dread.
