CORE has reworked its most-loved control bar from the inside out. The new Sensor 4S and Sensor 4S Pro keep the famously clean, direct Sensor feel — then add a carbon-polymer bar, stiffer lines and smarter trimming for an even more connected ride.
If you ride a CORE kite — or any modern bridled kite — the bar is the one piece of kit your hands never leave. It's how you feel the kite, time a loop and reach your safety release when it matters. The Sensor bar has built a serious reputation for getting that connection right, and the CORE Sensor 4S is the most refined version yet.
This isn't a redesign for the sake of it. CORE took a bar riders already trusted and sharpened the details that matter: a new bar body, lines with more bite, easier on-the-water trimming and the same ISO-certified safety system. Below we break down what's actually new, how the standard 4S and the 4S Pro differ, which kites they work with, and who each one suits best.

What's new on the CORE Sensor 4S
The headline upgrades are about feel and longevity. Here's the short version before we dig in:
- Carbon-polymer barNew long-fibre carbon-reinforced body — stiffer, stronger and lighter, with no titanium insert needed.
- Stiffer linesBeefier low-stretch Liros power lines (4S) or thin, brutally strong Tectanium 2 lines (4S Pro).
- FlexTrim clampFine-tune your backlines straight from the floater — no untying required.
- Click-in insertsReplaceable centre service inserts you can swap in seconds without stripping the bar.
- Griploc 2 gripAbrasion-resistant EVA with clearer left/right colour coding that stays cleaner.
- Grey-yellow codingConsistent signal colouring on the left side across both versions for instant orientation.
A new bar body: stiffer, stronger, lighter
The biggest change is the bar itself. The Sensor 4S and 4S Pro use a long-fibre, carbon-reinforced high-performance polymer. In plain terms: it's stiff enough to carry big loads without a titanium insert buried inside, which keeps weight down while bumping up robustness.
Why does stiffness matter? A bar that doesn't flex passes your steering input straight to the kite. Less wasted movement means crisper turns, sharper loop timing and that direct, "the kite is an extension of my arms" feeling the Sensor line is known for.
The clean, carbon-reinforced Sensor bar body and Griploc grip. The lines: where 4S and 4S Pro part ways
All Sensor 4S lines are made by Liros and run adjustable lengths — fly at 18, 20, 22 or 24 metres using the base 18 m lines plus two extensions. That single feature covers almost every discipline: short lines for foiling and radical loops, long lines for big floaty boosts.
Sensor 4S — new Liros power lines
CORE took rider feedback and rebuilt the standard power lines to be roughly 10% thicker in diameter, noticeably stiffer and more durable. The payoff is more direct feedback and reliable handling session after session — without chasing your trim. This is the sweet spot for most freeriders.
Sensor 4S Pro — Tectanium 2 lines
The Pro steps up to Tectanium 2: thinner, even stiffer and extremely high in tensile strength. Steering inputs transmit instantly, even under the highest loads, which is exactly what you want for performance freeride, big air and demanding manoeuvres where every nuance counts.
Not sure which one is for you?
Most riders are perfectly served by the standard Sensor 4S. Go Pro if you chase maximum precision, ride hard and want the firmest, most direct bar feedback CORE offers. Still torn? Message the Northern Watersports team — we ride this gear and we'll point you to the right setup.
Safety you can trust
CORE has been part of the GKA-led push to standardise kite safety, and it shows. The Sensor 4S safety package is one of the most complete on the market:
- ISO 21853 quick releaseThe revised CIC release works under load and with slack lines, with a green indicator to reduce accidental mis-release.
- SFS+ single frontline safetyIKO-certified flag-out on one front line with no residual pull — works with fixed-bridle (Pace, Air) and pulley kites (XR, Nexus).
- 4:1 adjusterCuts the trimming force needed by 75% for smooth, step-less depower even in the upper wind range.
- Short safety leashISO-compliant 55 cm leash keeps the release visible and within reach; swap to the Pro Leash for unhooked riding.
- Auto UntwistA low-friction ceramic ball bearing below the release keeps your front lines perfectly sorted, hands-free.
- Marine-grade hardwareA4 stainless steel components for maximum corrosion resistance in salt and sand.
Built for real-world riding
Beyond feel and safety, the Sensor 4S is full of small touches that make a long session easier:
- FlexTrim clampFine-tune backline length at the floater without untying a single knot.
- Click-in service insertsThe bar's centre inserts pop out and replace in seconds — no disassembly, consistent action.
- Bar width adjustmentSwitch between 50 cm and 46.5 cm (or 45/41.5 cm) with a click to match your kite size.
- High V / Low V splitSwap line splits in seconds — High V for standard riding, Low V for short lines and radical action.
- Universal pigtailsEasy line-length tweaks and broad compatibility with many kites on the market.
- Free floater & stealth windersThe signature light Sensor steering feel, plus fold-away winders for tidy storage and flight.

CORE Sensor 4S: frequently asked questions
What is the CORE Sensor 4S bar?
The CORE Sensor 4S is the latest evolution of CORE's Sensor control bar for kitesurfing. It features a new carbon-reinforced polymer bar body, stiffer low-stretch lines, FlexTrim backline adjustment and an ISO-certified safety system, delivering more direct, precise control while keeping the clean, simple Sensor feel.
What's the difference between the Sensor 4S and Sensor 4S Pro?
Both share the same carbon-polymer bar and safety system. The standard Sensor 4S uses new, slightly thicker Liros power lines for a balance of precision, comfort and durability — ideal for most freeriders. The Sensor 4S Pro uses thinner, stiffer Tectanium 2 lines for even firmer, more direct feedback, aimed at performance riders who want maximum precision under high loads.
Is the CORE Sensor 4S compatible with other kite brands?
Yes. It works with the full CORE range — including Pace Pro, the XR series, Nexus, GTS and Section — and, thanks to its SFS+ single-frontline safety and universal pigtails, with many bridled kites from other brands too. If you're unsure about your kite, contact Northern Watersports before ordering.
What line lengths does the Sensor 4S come with?
It ships with 18 m base lines plus 4 m and 2 m extensions, so you can fly at 18, 20, 22 or 24 metres. Shorter lengths suit foiling and loops; longer lengths suit big boosts and floaty jumps.
How safe is the CORE Sensor 4S?
Very. It uses an ISO 21853-certified CIC quick release that works under load or with slack lines, the IKO-certified SFS+ single-frontline safety that fully flags the kite with no residual pull, a 4:1 adjuster for easy depower and a short safety leash. CORE also backs the bar with a six-year replacement-parts guarantee. As with all kit, always learn your release and ride within your ability.
