Every foiler has done the beach kit faff. Digging through a bag for the right hex key, squinting at tiny screw holes in bright sun, losing a bolt in the sand, or arriving at the water only to realise the mast connection needs re-tightening. The Slingshot One-Lock system was built specifically to make all of that disappear — and it does, in a way that sounds almost too good until you try it.
Here’s how it works, why it’s genuinely different, and what you can build with it.
How the One-Lock System Actually Works
Traditional foil systems use screws to pull the mast, fuselage, front wing and stabiliser together. That creates a rigid connection, but it comes with a list of problems: corrosion, cross-threading, lost hardware, and tools you’ll inevitably forget at home.
One-Lock replaces all of that with a single latch mechanism. The assembly sequence:
- Slide the front wing into the collar at the bottom of the fuselage
- Slide the stabiliser into the opposite end
- Insert the latch into the tail cavity and click it flush
- Connect the assembled lower plane to the mast foot
Total setup time: under 10 seconds. In practice, once you’ve done it a few times, it’s closer to five.
The connection isn’t just a clip — it’s engineered to get stronger under load. The system uses a Dyneema cable (the same ultra-low-stretch material found in offshore racing sailboats) and a precision-shaped latch that gradually increases clamping force as pressure builds through the mast. The geometry is designed so that the harder you push on the foil, the more secure the joint becomes. It doesn’t vibrate loose or need re-checking between runs.
Why Tool-Free Matters More Than It Sounds
- No corrosion at connection points. Titanium or stainless screws in aluminium or carbon housings corrode in saltwater over time. No screws means no corrosion at the joints that matter most.
- No hardware to lose. The only removable part is the latch itself — chunky, brightly finished, and stays with the system.
- Practical mid-session wing swaps. Carrying two or three front wings to a session and swapping as conditions change becomes genuinely viable. With traditional screw systems, most riders try it once.
- Cleaner hydrodynamics. The screw-free fuselage eliminates the drag traditionally created by screw heads sitting in the water’s flow path.
The Range: Every Component You Can Build With
The One-Lock platform is fully modular — every mast, front wing and tail is interchangeable within the ecosystem. Build a beginner setup and upgrade individual components as your riding develops, without touching the rest of the system.

Complete Packages: The Fastest Way In
If you’re new to One-Lock, the pre-configured packages are the fastest route onto the water with a setup that’s already balanced and ready to ride. Every package uses the same modular platform underneath, so components are interchangeable between setups and upgrades later.
Wing QuickStart Package — £1,099
Ease 1850 + Verse 270 + 82 cm Aluminium Mast. The right blend of early lift and stability for learning wing foiling. Easy enough to build confidence on, with clear upgrade paths for when you progress.
Kite QuickStart Package — £1,049
Purpose-configured for kite foilers. Comes with a Kite Front Wing and compatible tail and mast pairing to give you a foil that grows with you as you build kite foiling skills. Same One-Lock platform, same modular upgrade path.
Wake Glide 925 Advanced Package — £2,800
The full advanced wake foil setup, built around the Glide 925 front wing. Fast, efficient, and designed to carry speed behind the boat with a setup that doesn’t require screw changes between disciplines. For riders ready to step up from entry-level wake foiling.
Foil Boards
The One-Lock mast connects to your board via a standard tuttle or deep tuttle box. We stock two Slingshot foil boards that pair directly with the system:
| Board | Sizes | Best For | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dwarf Craft V4 | 110–140 cm | Beginners and intermediate riders — forgiving, high-volume | £505 |
| Hope Craft V3 | 80–120 cm | Advanced riders wanting direct feedback and performance | £839 |
The Foil Bag
The One-Lock Foil Bag (£75) is designed specifically to carry the complete One-Lock foil system — wings, mast, fuselage, and accessories — in one purpose-shaped bag. Worth picking up alongside your foil setup rather than trying to improvise with a generic bag, especially if you’re carrying carbon components.
FAQ
Is the One-Lock system genuinely secure?
Yes. The connection becomes more secure under load — the harder you ride, the more the Dyneema cable and angled latch geometry tighten the joint. It’s been tested across surf, wing, kite, wake, and pump foiling conditions.
Can I swap front wings mid-session?
Yes. Releasing and re-latching takes 5–10 seconds, making real-time component swapping between conditions entirely practical. It’s one of the system’s most useful everyday advantages.
What disciplines does One-Lock cover?
Wing foiling, kite foiling, surf foiling, wake foiling, and pump foiling. The mast and fuselage platform is shared across all current Slingshot foil ranges.
Is One-Lock compatible with older Slingshot foils?
No. It’s a separate system and not backwards-compatible with previous Slingshot foil platforms.
Do I need any tools at all?
No tools are needed for foil assembly or disassembly. The only exception is the board mounting hardware, which attaches the mast foot to your board’s tuttle or deep tuttle box.
What if I lose or damage the latch?
We stock the One-Lock Latch as a standalone replacement part at £15.
Aluminium or Carbon Mast — which should I start with?
For most learners and progressing riders, the Aluminium Mast is the right starting point — stiff, durable, and well-priced for everyday use. The Carbon Mast makes sense once you’re riding consistently and looking for more precision and less weight.
Which foil board works best with One-Lock?
Both the Dwarf Craft V4 and the Hope Craft V3 are designed to work with the One-Lock system. The Dwarf Craft V4 suits beginners and intermediate riders; the Hope Craft V3 is the better choice for advanced riders wanting a more direct, performance-focused feel.
