Description

The AFS Enduro GLT is what happens when you take the already-impressive Enduro platform and push it to its most accessible, most forgiving extreme. At 1600 cm² with a 132 cm span and AR11 aspect ratio, this is a wing engineered from the ground up for riders who need maximum lift at minimum speed — whether that's a first foil experience on a SUP, a return to the water after time away, or a serious progression tool for AFS foils sessions in challenging light-wind conditions.

Developed with Gwen Le Tutour — an expert foiler and internationally respected coach — the GLT brings rider-centred intelligence to its design. It doesn't just give you a big wing. It gives you a big wing that still turns, still responds, and still rewards progression. A single size, a single mission: get you up and flying with less effort than you thought possible.

Who It's For

The Enduro GLT is the right choice for several very different riders. First, the genuine beginner: if you're coming into SUP foiling or dock-start foiling for the first time, this wing removes the speed barrier almost entirely. Second, the experienced rider hunting light-wind sessions: on a day when the 1300 Enduro feels like hard work, the GLT transforms patchy 10-knot wing conditions or slow-rolling swell into a proper foiling session. Third, the downwind paddler starting out: the GLT's sustained glide at low pace makes it ideal for building the technique and fitness needed before stepping down to more demanding wings. It's also been picked up by riders specifically for dock-start practice and flat-water pump development.

Key Features

  • 1600 cm² surface area — maximum lift in the AFS Enduro family
  • 132 cm span with AR11 aspect ratio — broad glide with genuine manoeuvrability
  • Full Carbon Prepreg T700 + UHM M46J construction, 100% made in France
  • Developed with Gwen Le Tutour, designed by Laurent Borgna
  • Leading-edge tubercles for progressive, forgiving stall
  • AFS Fuselink connection system — fully modular, compatible with all AFS Fuselink fuselages and masts
  • Optimised for dock start, flat-water starts, SUP paddle entries and light-wind wing foiling
  • Superior yaw and roll stability for reassuring early-learning feel

On the Foil

The first thing the GLT teaches you is that takeoff doesn't have to be a struggle. At 1600 cm² it generates lift at speeds that would leave a smaller wing stalled and wallowing — the wing simply rises beneath you earlier and more gently than you expect. Glide is the other headline: once up and flowing, the AR11 high-span design sustains momentum with remarkable efficiency, making the GLT excellent for building the long, rhythmic runs that teach good pump technique.

Despite its size, it's not a lumbering beast. The AR11 geometry and GLT's span keep roll response positive — it turns willingly and tracks a carving arc without the laziness that flat low-aspect wings of similar area can produce. In wing foiling it's transformative in 8–14 knots, where smaller wings demand constant, tiring effort to stay up. SUP downwind riders report that the GLT makes the paddling catch phase feel genuinely achievable from day one, and the sustained glide gives real time to develop technique between sets.

Compared to the 1300 Enduro, the GLT is slower at the top end and asks less of you at the bottom — a worthwhile trade for anyone whose riding benefits from a lower minimum speed. Think of the GLT as the 1300's more patient, more forgiving older sibling rather than a direct replacement.

Compatibility & Setup

The Enduro GLT uses the same AFS Fuselink connection as the rest of the Enduro range — a conical precision interface joining the front wing to the fuselage with two M8 bolts. You need an AFS Fuselink fuselage (standard length is recommended for stability at the GLT's size) and a Fuselink-compatible AFS mast (UHM, HM or HR). This is not compatible with a standard US box track without an AFS adapter, and it does not work with other brands' connection systems. The GLT pairs with all current AFS stabilisers including the Glide 41. At this wing size, the standard-length fuselage is generally the better pairing for stability; we'd recommend discussing your full setup with us before ordering.

Construction

The Enduro GLT is built with the same dual-layer carbon prepreg used across the premium AFS range: T700 carbon for impact toughness throughout the structure, with UHM M46J ultra-high-modulus carbon providing the bending stiffness needed to prevent flex at the wing's considerable span. At 132 cm across, any stiffness compromise would be felt immediately as a mushy, unresponsive pump — the UHM layup prevents this entirely. Manufactured in France, inspected and finished to AFS's own standards.

Why We Stock It

We stock the GLT because it genuinely changes what's possible for riders who are just starting out — and because it gives experienced riders a credible light-wind option that doesn't compromise the quality of their session. Developed in collaboration with a coach who teaches foiling for a living, this is a wing that reflects how people actually learn. If we were setting up a beginner or coaching someone through their first SUP foil steps, this is what we'd put under their board.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does GLT stand for?

GLT stands for "Grande Légèreté de Temps" — loosely translated as "grand lightness of time" or "big light-touch." It's AFS's way of naming the wing's character: a large wing that behaves with surprising lightness and accessibility. In practical terms, it's the easiest-lifting, most forgiving wing in the Enduro family.

How does the Enduro GLT differ from the standard 1300 Enduro?

The 1300 Enduro is a well-rounded all-rounder that suits experienced riders in a range of conditions. The GLT 1600 is specifically optimised for maximum lift at minimum speed — it adds 300 cm² of surface area and 130 mm of extra span over the 1300, reducing takeoff speed significantly and extending glide duration. The trade-off is a lower top-end speed and slightly more physical size to manage. If you're foiling confidently in moderate conditions, the 1300 gives more range. If light wind, easy starts or early-stage progression are the priority, the GLT earns its place.

Is the Enduro GLT only for beginners?

Not at all. Experienced riders regularly reach for the GLT in marginal light-wind sessions where a 1300 would demand too much physical effort to stay consistently on foil. Coaches and instructors favour it for teaching. SUP downwind riders use it to extend the window of usable conditions. It's a specific-use wing rather than an everyday all-rounder, but its use case is real and relevant for a wide range of rider levels.

What fuselage and mast do I need?

The GLT requires an AFS Fuselink fuselage and a Fuselink-compatible AFS mast (UHM, HM or HR). It is not compatible with a standard US box track without an adapter. Given the GLT's large size and low-speed character, we'd recommend the standard-length Fuselink fuselage for stability — the short fuselage suits smaller, faster wings where responsiveness is the priority. Contact us and we'll spec your complete setup.

Can I use the GLT for wing foiling as well as SUP foiling?

Yes — the GLT works well for wing foiling in genuinely light conditions (roughly 8–15 knots depending on rider weight and board volume). In stronger winds you'll outgrow the wing area quickly and find something in the 900–1100 range more appropriate. But for those frustrating marginal days when the breeze is just enough to consider going out, the GLT turns those sessions into real foiling time. For SUP downwind and dock start it's simply excellent regardless of skill level.

Who developed the GLT and why does that matter?

The GLT was co-developed with Gwen Le Tutour, a highly regarded foil coach and competitive rider. Designer Laurent Borgna brought his characteristic tubercle-edged profile to the project. The collaboration between a practising coach and a performance designer means the GLT has been genuinely stress-tested against what real learners and light-wind riders need — not just what looks good on a spec sheet. That background shows in how the wing actually rides.

Is the Enduro GLT compatible with my existing AFS setup?

If you already have an AFS Fuselink fuselage and a Fuselink-compatible mast, yes — the GLT drops straight into your existing system alongside your other AFS wings. If you're on an older AFS Performer mast, the Switch fuselage bridges the compatibility gap. If you're coming from a different brand entirely, you'll need to build an AFS-compatible base.
