Description

The AFS Switch Fuselage is a purpose-built bridge between the older AFS Performer mast and the current generation of Fuselink front wings. If you're running a Performer or Alpha demountable mast and want access to modern AFS foils — the Flyer, Evo, Enduro and newer Fuselink-compatible wings — the Switch Fuselage is how you get there without replacing your entire setup.

It's a genuine upgrade path, not a compromise. The Switch mounts to your Performer mast at one end and presents a full Fuselink connection at the other — letting you run any current AFS Fuselink front wing with your existing mast. At 680 mm in HR carbon monocoque construction, it rides like the standard carbon Fuselink fuselage, with dual stabiliser positions and the same 600 g weight target.

Who It's For

The Switch Fuselage is specifically for riders who own an AFS Performer or Alpha mast and want to move onto the current Fuselink front wing generation without the cost of a full system replacement. It bridges the generation gap in the AFS lineup.

If you bought into AFS foiling earlier via a Performer complete foil package, this fuselage lets you keep the mast you know and trust while accessing the latest front wing designs — including high-aspect options that weren't available when your mast was made. It suits all disciplines: wing foiling, downwind, surf foiling and SUP foiling.

If you're starting fresh with no existing AFS gear, the standard Fuselink Fuselage is the right starting point rather than the Switch.

Key Features

  • Bridges AFS Performer / Alpha mast to AFS Fuselink front wings
  • Length: 680 mm — equivalent to the Standard Fuselink geometry
  • HR Carbon monocoque construction — lightweight and stiff
  • Weight: approximately 600 g
  • Two stabiliser positions — tune for glide or maneuverability
  • Performer mast mount at rear, Fuselink front wing connection at front
  • Works with all AFS Fuselink front wings: Flyer, Evo, Enduro and more
  • Suitable for wing foil, downwind, surf and SUP foiling

On the Foil

On the water, the Switch Fuselage rides very similarly to the standard Fuselink carbon fuselage — same 680 mm length, same dual stab positions, same HR carbon stiffness. The key difference is invisible to the foil itself: it's in the mast connection at the rear, where the Switch presents the Performer mast interface rather than the Fuselink mast interface.

The dual stabiliser positions give you the same tuning flexibility as the standard fuse — run the stab further back for more glide and pitch stability, or push it forward for a snappier, more reactive feel when pumping or jumping. For riders upgrading from an older Performer-based setup, the first thing they notice is often how much the modern Fuselink front wings transform the ride even before any other change — the Switch Fuselage simply unlocks that transformation.

Compatibility & Setup

The Switch Fuselage is compatible with:

  • Masts: AFS Performer and Alpha demountable masts (Performer mast mount connection at the rear)
  • Front wings: All AFS Fuselink front wings — Flyer, Evo, Evo HA, Enduro and any other current Fuselink-compatible AFS wings
  • Stabilisers: All current AFS stabilisers

It is not compatible with AFS Evolution or Advanced Fuselink masts (those use the standard Fuselink Fuselage), and it is not compatible with any non-AFS mast or wing system. If you are unsure which mast you have, check the mast foot and rail connection — Performer masts use a distinctive profile that differs from the Evolution Fuselink mast.

Construction

Like the Fuselink Advanced Carbon Fuselage, the Switch is built in HR carbon monocoque — a single-piece construction that maximises stiffness and minimises weight. This means you're not sacrificing performance for compatibility: the Switch fuselage is structurally equivalent to the standard carbon fuse, with the same ability to transfer input accurately from rider to wing without unwanted flex.

Why We Stock It

Not everyone wants to bin perfectly good gear every time a new system comes out — and they shouldn't have to. The Switch Fuselage is the kind of considered engineering that earns long-term brand loyalty: AFS built it specifically so Performer mast owners aren't left behind. We stock it because we've had the conversation with enough riders who want to upgrade their front wing without replacing the mast that's still working perfectly well.

FAQs

What exactly does the AFS Switch Fuselage do?

The Switch Fuselage connects an AFS Performer or Alpha demountable mast (via the Performer mast mount at the rear of the fuselage) to any current AFS Fuselink front wing (via the Fuselink connection at the front). It's a purpose-built adapter fuselage that lets you upgrade your front wing without replacing your mast — opening up the full current AFS Fuselink front wing range to older Performer-based setups.

Will the Switch Fuselage work with my AFS Evolution mast?

No — the Switch Fuselage is specifically designed for AFS Performer and Alpha masts. If you have an AFS Evolution or Advanced Fuselink mast, you need the standard AFS Fuselink Fuselage (aluminium or carbon), not the Switch. The Evolution mast uses a different rear mast connection to the Performer.

Which front wings are compatible with the Switch Fuselage?

Any AFS front wing that uses the Fuselink connection system is compatible. This includes the current Flyer, Evo, Evo HA and Enduro ranges, as well as any newer Fuselink-compatible AFS wings. All current AFS stabilisers are also compatible.

How does the Switch Fuselage affect the riding feel compared to my old Performer fuselage?

The Switch Fuselage is 680 mm long — the equivalent of the Standard Fuselink geometry — and built in HR carbon monocoque. Most riders upgrading from an older Performer fuselage find the carbon construction feels stiffer and more responsive. The bigger change, however, is usually the front wing: the modern Fuselink range (Evo, Enduro, Flyer) rides very differently to the wings that shipped with older Performer packages, with more efficient profiles and better high-aspect performance. The Switch Fuselage simply unlocks that upgrade.

Is the Switch Fuselage compatible with non-AFS foil parts?

No — neither connection point on the Switch Fuselage is compatible with non-AFS systems. The rear uses a Performer mast mount (AFS-specific) and the front uses the Fuselink connection (also AFS-specific). It will not fit Tuttle, deep power box, or any other brand's mast or wing format.

Should I buy the Switch Fuselage or replace my mast with an Evolution Fuselink mast?

If your Performer mast is in good condition and the right length for your riding, the Switch Fuselage is the more economical route — you get access to the full current front wing range without the mast cost. If you're due a mast upgrade anyway (different length, carbon upgrade from alloy, etc.), it may make sense to move to an Evolution Fuselink mast and a standard Fuselink Fuselage instead, which gives you a cleaner system long-term. We're happy to talk through which route makes sense for your setup — get in touch.
