Description
The Naish Drive is a high-performance 3K carbon twintip kiteboard built for experienced riders who want a lightweight, responsive daily driver that performs across all conditions. At £899, it sits in the sweet spot of the Naish freeride lineup — above the Motion NVision in construction quality and liveliness, but without the extreme aggression of the Monarch NVision. It's the board you grab when you want everything in one package.
The 2025 Drive is built around a triple concave hull, 3K carbon construction, and a medium 3-stage rocker — a combination that delivers genuine pop and edge grip without sacrificing the forgiveness you need on a windswept Irish Sea session. Whether you're carving hard on a gusty day at West Kirby, practising board-offs, or just blasting downwind with a beer in hand (mentally), the Drive handles it without complaint.
Who It's For
- Discipline: Freeride, performance freeride, big air progression, travel
- Level: Intermediate to advanced — comfortable on an edge, looking to push into tricks or touring
- Best for: Riders who want one board that does everything well. Travellers who need a quiver-of-one. Freeriders moving up from a heavier entry-level board. Anyone working on board-offs who wants a handle they can actually catch.
Key Features
- 3K Carbon & Glass Construction – Significantly lighter and more responsive than standard glass layups. You feel every input immediately; the board reacts, not just follows.
- 3-Stage Rocker – Medium profile balances flat-rocker speed with the predictability of a higher rocker. Smooth through chop, lively off the water, not aggressive enough to punish you in gusty wind.
- Triple Concave Hull – Locks you into an edge when you want grip, releases cleanly when you want to slide. Board-offs and transitions feel intuitive rather than forced.
- Haptic Handle (New Height) – Raised catch height gives genuine extra space to grab during board-offs. Optional 15mm feet for riders who want even more clearance in flight.
- 4.5cm G10 Asymmetric Fins – Proven grip and drive upwind; the asymmetric shape adds bite on the back foot without causing catchy, sticky steering.
- Centred Inserts – Swap bindings to a fresh rail as the original wears in. Extends board life noticeably and keeps the flex consistent for longer.
- Tapered Rails – Deck edge shaped for reliable board-off grip without sharp edges that catch on landings.
Real-World Feel
Pick up the Drive and the first thing you notice is the weight — or the lack of it. The 3K carbon layup makes this feel noticeably lighter than a glass board of the same size, and that weight saving is felt in the air, on the water, and in your bag at the airport. On the water, the 3-stage rocker gives it a lively, responsive character — it's not the nervous energy of a pure freestyle board, but it's definitely not a dull cruiser either. Carve hard and it drives upwind with confidence; ease off and it flows. The triple concave generates real edge grip when you need it, then releases smoothly for transitions or slide tricks. The haptic handle is a genuine improvement — taller than the previous generation, which makes a real difference when you're working on board-offs. The optional 15mm raised feet option is worth exploring if you're serious about your unhooked progression. This is the kind of board that grows with you rather than holding you back.
Setup / Fit
Sizing: The Drive runs in 134, 138, and 142cm. Lighter riders and those who prefer a more skatey, nimble feel should size down; heavier riders or those who prioritise upwind performance and stability in chop should size up. See the size guide below.
Bindings: Use the centred inserts to mount your pads symmetrically — this lets you rotate bindings to a fresh rail section as wear develops, extending the life of your board significantly. Compatible pads and straps are available separately.
Haptic Handle: Standard setup works well for most riding. If you're actively practising board-offs, fit the optional 15mm foot inserts to raise the stance height and give your hand more clearance to slip through on the catch.
Materials
The Drive is built with a 3K carbon and glass construction — the 3K carbon weave is finer and more tightly woven than standard carbon, delivering exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio with a lively flex pattern that responds to rider input rather than just absorbing it. The glass reinforcement adds impact resistance and durability where it matters most, without adding unnecessary weight. The result is a board that performs like a premium freestyle tool but survives real-world riding.
Size Guide
| Size | Rider Weight (approx.) | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 134cm | 55–75kg | Lighter riders, high-wind days, more responsive feel |
| 138cm | 70–85kg | All-round size, most versatile for mixed conditions |
| 142cm | 80kg+ | Heavier riders, light wind performance, maximum stability |
Weight ranges overlap — when between sizes, consider your riding style: aggressive riders tend to prefer a shorter board; freeriders and light-wind enthusiasts lean longer.

FAQs
What makes the Naish Drive different from the Motion NVision?
The Drive uses a 3K carbon construction versus the Motion's standard glass layup, making it noticeably lighter and more responsive. The Drive also has a more refined triple concave hull and the haptic handle for board-offs — it's the step up for riders who want more performance and feel. The Motion is a great all-rounder; the Drive rewards riders who want to push their riding further.
Is the Naish Drive good for travel?
It's excellent for travel. The 3K carbon construction keeps weight down, which matters when you're counting kilos in a board bag. The 134 and 138 sizes fit most standard board bags comfortably, and the centred inserts mean your bindings are easy to remove and refit after the journey. Many riders consider it the ideal quiver-of-one travel board.
What's the difference between the Drive and the Monarch NVision?
The Monarch NVision is Naish's more aggressive freestyle/big-air board — stiffer, more powerful pop, designed for riders pushing serious unhooked tricks or megaloops. The Drive sits below it in the lineup: more versatile, more forgiving, equally well-built, but focused on performance freeride rather than pure big air. If you're not spending most sessions unhooked, the Drive is the better daily driver.
Can I use the Naish Drive for beginners?
The Drive is designed for intermediate to advanced riders. The 3K carbon flex and lively rocker are assets for experienced riders but can make life harder for beginners still finding their edge. If you're just starting out, we'd point you towards a more forgiving entry-level board first — come and talk to us in the shop and we'll set you up right.
What bindings fit the Naish Drive?
The Drive uses a standard insert pattern compatible with most Naish pads and straps, as well as many third-party bindings. The centred inserts give you flexibility to mount at different widths. We stock a range of compatible pads and straps — get in touch if you need help matching them up.
Is the Naish Drive available with fins included?
Yes — the Drive comes complete with four 4.5cm G10 asymmetric fins fitted. No additional fin purchase required. Spare fins are available separately if needed.
