Description
The CORE Air Pro is the performance edition of CORE's dedicated light-wind kite — built for riders who want maximum output when the forecast looks marginal. Where the standard Air uses an ExoTex 2 frame, the Air Pro goes further: its Aluula airframe is radically lighter and stiffer, with a slimmer leading edge diameter that cuts through light air with noticeably less resistance. The result is a kite that locks in earlier, flies faster for its size, and holds a higher top end than any Dacron lightwind kite can. Available in 15m and 17m.

Who It's For
- Discipline: Lightwind big air, freestyle, high-performance freeride
- Level: Intermediate–advanced riders comfortable with a fixed-bridle kite and direct bar feel
- Best for: Riders who are serious about getting airborne in sub-20-knot conditions and want every gram and millimetre of performance the kite can offer
Key Features
- Aluula Airframe — Ultra-stiff, radically lightweight composite material with a reduced leading edge diameter. Near-zero deformation under load means the kite flies the same shape in 9 knots as it does in 20. This is the defining feature of the Air Pro over the standard Air.
- 3-Strut High-Aspect Frame — The same proven platform as the Air: high-aspect for lift, 3-strut for agility. The Aluula airframe takes that platform and sharpens every response.
- Fixed Bridle — Ultra-direct steering that puts every bar input straight into the kite. No slack, no delay — exactly what you need when you're building momentum for a big send in light air.
- CoreTex 2 Canopy — Low-stretch, high-UV-protection ripstop cloth that maintains canopy shape and delivers consistent, linear power through the session.
- Huge Lift and Hangtime — The extreme aspect ratio, combined with the rigidity of the Aluula frame, generates significant vertical power even in conditions where other kites struggle to pull at all.
- Higher Top-End Wind Range — Unlike Dacron kites, the Aluula airframe resists deformation in stronger gusts, meaning you can hold the Air Pro down in winds that would make a standard lightwind kite feel unmanageable.
- Effortless Water Relaunch — Swept leading edge and refined tip shape allow the kite to roll onto its tip readily, even in genuinely light conditions.
- Sensor 4 / Sensor 4 Pro only — The SFS+ safety system is mandatory for fixed-bridle kites. The Air Pro is not compatible with older CORE bars.
- 6-Year Parts Guarantee — CORE guarantees availability of replacement parts for a minimum of six years.
Real-World Feel
Fly the Air Pro back-to-back with the standard Air and the difference is immediate. The bar feels more alive — inputs land crisper, turns are sharper, and the kite seems to accelerate through the window with more intent. In 10 knots, where a Dacron kite might feel sluggish on the turns, the Air Pro keeps a snappiness that lets you build speed properly and actually load the lines for a boost. The hangtime is genuine: get your technique right and this kite will keep you in the air long enough to think about your landing. It demands a bit more from the rider than the standard Air — the direct bar feel leaves nowhere to hide if your body position is off — but that same directness is exactly what makes it so good for pushing big air in light conditions. The 17m suits heavier riders or anyone chasing performance in single-digit winds; the 15m is the playful option for lighter riders who want the Aluula feel without being overpowered in the mid-range.
Setup / Fit
- Compatible with the CORE Sensor 4 and Sensor 4 Pro bars only — the SFS+ system is required for safe depower on fixed-bridle kites
- Single-pump inflation — inflate the leading edge and struts fill simultaneously
- The fixed bridle is factory-set — no adjustment required out of the bag
- Aluula airframes require a little extra care on the beach: avoid sharp impacts and avoid over-pumping. CORE's recommended pressure guidance applies.
- Standard 24m lines recommended; experienced riders may try shorter lines to sharpen the turn further
Materials
- Leading Edge & Struts: Aluula — premium ultra-lightweight composite with near-zero stretch and a reduced diameter profile
- Canopy: CoreTex 2 — CORE's own low-stretch, high-UV-protection ripstop cloth
- Bridle: Fixed bridle system for ultra-direct steering
Size Guide
| Size | Typical Wind Range | Rider Weight Guide |
|---|---|---|
| 15m | ~10–20 knots | Lighter riders / more active lightwind freeride and big air |
| 17m | ~8–18 knots | Heavier riders (80 kg+) / genuinely marginal or single-digit wind sessions |
The Aluula airframe gives the Air Pro a wider usable wind range than the standard Air — it handles both the lower and upper ends of the range more confidently. Wind ranges are approximate and vary with rider weight and board choice.
Pairs Well With
- The CORE Sensor 4 or Sensor 4 Pro bar — required for safe use with this kite
- A performance twin tip or foil board to match the Air Pro's output in light conditions
Why We Stock It
We stock the Air Pro because there's genuinely nothing else like it in the light-wind big-air category. The Aluula airframe is a step-change in what's possible under 20 knots — this is a kite that lets you send properly when the conditions suggest you shouldn't be able to. As a rider-owned shop on the Wirral we're familiar with borderline sessions, and we know how much it matters to have a kite that performs rather than just copes. The Air Pro performs. It's not a beginner's kite and it's not the cheapest option — but for the rider who wants to push their lightwind big air and is prepared to invest in the best tool for the job, it's hard to argue against. Get in touch if you want to discuss whether the Air Pro or the standard Air is the right call for your riding.
FAQs
- What is the difference between the CORE Air and the CORE Air Pro?
- The shape, strut count and fixed bridle are the same. The difference is the airframe material: the Air uses ExoTex 2 Dacron (durable, forgiving, accessible), while the Air Pro uses Aluula (ultra-stiff, significantly lighter, smaller diameter). The Air Pro flies faster, locks in earlier in marginal winds, holds a higher top end and has more direct bar feedback. It costs more and demands a bit more from the rider, but the performance uplift is real.
- What bar does the CORE Air Pro require?
- The Air Pro must be flown with the CORE Sensor 4 or Sensor 4 Pro bar. Only the SFS+ safety system in these bars provides full depower on fixed-bridle kites. Older CORE bars (Sensor 3S and earlier) are not compatible and should not be used with this kite.
- Is the CORE Air Pro suitable for beginners?
- No — the Air Pro is designed for intermediate and advanced riders. Its direct fixed-bridle feel and high-performance character suit riders who already know how to manage power, read the window and land big air safely. If you're still building your fundamentals, the standard CORE Air is a better starting point.
- Can I use the CORE Air Pro for foiling?
- Absolutely. The Air Pro's light weight and early-lock-in make it an excellent foiling kite. Its stable power delivery and easy relaunch are well-matched to foil sessions, and the Aluula frame means you can get moving in genuinely light air.
- How do I look after an Aluula kite?
- Aluula is stiffer than Dacron but requires similar care — avoid sharp impacts (particularly to the leading edge), don't over-inflate beyond CORE's recommended pressure, and store it properly when not in use. Aluula kites are not inherently fragile, but they reward a bit of extra attention on setup and pack-down.
- Which size Air Pro should I choose — 15m or 17m?
- Lighter riders (under 75–80 kg) generally get the most from the 15m: it's more playful and still generates plenty of lift. Heavier riders, or those targeting genuinely marginal conditions, will find the 17m locks in more convincingly. Unsure? Give us a call — we're happy to talk it through.
