Description

The Naish Neutron | Wave & Freeride Wing is a compact, low-dihedral wing foiling wing built to deliver strong low-end power from a smaller wing than you would expect. Part of the Naish 2026 range, the Neutron is the go-to choice for wave riding and light-wind freeride — a wing that generates serious pull from its deep draft while staying neutral and manageable in your hands when you do not need it. Available in five sizes from 1.6 m to 5.0 m in Red/White.

The Neutron comes with Naish's removable boom system — note the carbon boom is sold separately (see the Naish Carbon Wingboom Removable in our wingfoiling accessories). The wing itself is sold without a boom.

Who It's For

Wave riders, light-wind freeride foilers, and anyone who wants to ride a size smaller than they normally would. The Neutron's deep draft and compact wingspan mean it punches well above its apparent size in terms of power — you can go down half a size compared to other wings and still get on the foil in marginal conditions. It suits intermediate to advanced wingfoilers; the free-fly and flagging characteristics make it particularly well suited to wave riding, where you need the wing to get out of the way and stay stable while you work a wave without it.

Key Features

  • Quad-Tex canopy with radial panel layout — Naish's strongest, stiffest canopy material; the radial panel construction distributes load evenly for a more cohesive, responsive airframe
  • Deep draft profile — generates impressive low-end power and upwind drive through marginal wind conditions; you get on the foil earlier and stay there longer
  • Low dihedral design — compact wingspan with a low-dihedral arc delivers the power of a bigger wing in a smaller physical package; keeps the wingtips out of the water on tacks
  • Smooth flagging and free-fly stability — the wing "breathes" in gusts and remains stable and predictable when flagged from the front handle, which is what wave riding demands
  • Redesigned reinforcements at clew, infill and wingtips (2026) — updated construction keeps canopy tension consistent for longer and gives a more uniform feel throughout the size range
  • Shape and profiling updates to bigger sizes (2026) — the 3.0 m and above have been retuned for better consistency with the smaller sizes
  • Naish dual-valve inflation system — increased rigidity, cleaner power transfer, improved control in demanding conditions
  • Removable boom system — 1000 mm carbon boom compatible; sold separately. Option to run without a boom if preferred
  • Light in the hands — minimal physical presence when neutral; the wing gets out of the way when you are in a wave

Real-World Feel

The Neutron is notable for how easy it is to forget you are holding it. In a wave the wing flags cleanly and stays stable overhead without requiring constant attention — you can focus on the wave rather than managing the wing. Generating power is effortless for the size; in 15 knots a 4.0 m Neutron delivers what many riders expect from a 4.5 m or 5.0 m in a more neutral design. Upwind is strong — the low dihedral pulls you forward effectively without the wing feeling heavy or over-powerful. In gusty conditions the soft response of the deep draft absorbs the peaks rather than transmitting them sharply to your arms. The Quad-Tex canopy gives a crisp feel that stays consistent through the session.

Setup and Fit

Inflate using Naish's dual-valve system. The Neutron uses the same 1000 mm removable carbon boom system across all sizes — the boom length does not change with wing size, which simplifies swapping between sizes. Boom sold separately; see the Naish Carbon Wingboom Removable. If you prefer handles over a boom, the Neutron does not use Naish's handle-set system — the boom is the primary grip option for this wing.

No boom? The wing can be used with handles built into the leading edge if your preferred setup involves attached handles, but the removable carbon boom is the intended grip option for the Neutron.

Materials and Construction

Canopy: Quad-Tex with radial panel layout. Profile: deep draft, low dihedral, compact span. Inflation: Naish dual-valve system. Reinforcements: updated clew, infill and wingtip construction for 2026. Boom system: removable, 1000 mm carbon (sold separately). Colours available: Red/White.

Size Guide

Wind ranges are approximate guidance. The Neutron's deep draft delivers more power per square metre than most wings of equivalent size — when in doubt, consider sizing down one step from your usual choice. Ranges based on a 75–80 kg rider on a medium-efficiency foil.

Size Approx. Wind Range Best For
1.6 m 22–35+ kn Strong/gusty conditions; expert wave riders; small efficient foils
2.0 m 18–28 kn Powered sessions; wave riders replacing a 2.5–3.0 m standard wing
3.0 m 14–22 kn Most versatile size; medium wind all-rounder; wave and freeride
4.0 m 11–18 kn Light-to-moderate wind freeride; replaces a 4.5–5.0 m standard wing
5.0 m 9–14 kn Very light wind; efficient foils; heavier riders or marginal conditions

The 3.0 m is the best-selling all-round size for UK coastal sessions. Riders specifically chasing wave performance often go for the 2.0 m or 3.0 m. If your normal wing size is a 4.5 m, try the 4.0 m Neutron first. Contact us if unsure — we are happy to match you to the right size.

Pairs Well With

The Neutron works with any foil setup from our foilboard range. The compact wingspan is particularly well suited to smaller wave-orientated boards. Pick up the Naish Carbon Wingboom Removable from our wingfoiling accessories to complete the setup. For riders who also want a parawing option, see the Naish Hatch Parawing in the same range.

Why We Stock It

The Neutron fits a specific need that comes up a lot on the Wirral: a wing that works in the choppier, more variable wind you get in a cross-shore sea breeze, with enough low-end power to hold flight when the wind drops between sets. The "smaller than expected, more powerful than expected" characteristic is not marketing spin — it is the most noticeable thing riders remark on when they first try the Neutron. If your sessions involve waves or marginal wind, it earns its place in the quiver.

FAQs

Is the Naish Neutron suitable for beginners?

It is better suited to intermediate and above. The Neutron's deep draft generates strong power quickly, which can be a handful for beginners who are still learning to manage wing power. For first-time wingfoilers, a more neutral wing with a higher dihedral is easier to learn on. Once your control is solid, the Neutron rewards you.

What is the difference between the Naish Neutron and the Naish ADX?

The Neutron has a deeper draft and lower dihedral, which generates more low-end power and makes it better for wave riding and light wind. The ADX has a higher dihedral, making it more predictable during takeoffs and aerial manoeuvres, and better for freeriding in medium-to-strong conditions. If you ride waves or light wind regularly, choose the Neutron. If you ride bigger freeride conditions, consider the ADX.

Does the Naish Neutron come with a boom?

No — the carbon boom is sold separately. The Naish Carbon Wingboom Removable fits the Neutron and is available in our accessories range. The boom length is 1000 mm across the full Neutron size range.

What size Naish Neutron Wing should I choose?

The 3.0 m is the most versatile size for most UK coastal conditions. The Neutron's deep draft means you can go smaller than you usually would — if your current wing is a 4.5 m, try the 4.0 m Neutron. For dedicated wave riding, the 2.0 m or 3.0 m are the most popular choices. Contact us to discuss your usual conditions and foil setup.

Can I use the Naish Neutron Wing for downwinding?

Yes — the low-end power and light-in-the-hand feel make it a solid choice for downwind sessions. The wing flags cleanly when you are gliding between pumps, and the low dihedral delivers pull efficiently when you need to power back up.

What canopy material does the Naish Neutron use?

The 2026 Naish Neutron uses a Quad-Tex canopy with a radial panel layout. Quad-Tex is Naish's strongest and stiffest canopy material. The radial panel construction distributes load evenly across the wing for a more consistent, responsive feel.
