Description

The 2026 Naish Hover Wing Ascend Carbon Ultra is a dedicated wing foil board built for riders who are comfortable flying and want a board that matches their progression. Available in eight volumes from 62 to 142 litres, it covers the range from experienced performance rider through to those transitioning from a high-volume beginner board, all for wing foiling.

The CU (Carbon Ultra) construction pairs a CNC-machined EPS core with vacuum lamination and full PVC carbon/biaxial glass reinforcement in the foil box area — keeping the board light and stiff while giving the mast connection the rigidity needed to transmit precise input. Updated bottom shaping and a redesigned inner bevel contour make pop-ups cleaner and improve recovery from touchdowns. Suited equally to wing foiling, prone foiling and SUP foiling.

Who It's For

The Ascend CU is for riders who have passed the initial learning phase and want a board that rewards developing technique rather than just providing stability. Larger sizes (102L–142L) suit intermediate riders adding power and consistency or heavier riders wanting performance construction; smaller sizes (62L–72L) are aimed at experienced foilers who want a nimble, low-swing-weight platform for powered riding and progressive manoeuvres. The CU construction means it's genuinely light enough that the smaller sizes barely feel like a board once you're flying.

Key Features

  • Carbon Ultra (CU) construction — CNC-machined EPS core, vacuum laminated with carbon and biaxial glass; the right balance of weight, stiffness and price
  • PVC carbon/biax glass foil box — full reinforcement at the mast connection area transmits foil input cleanly without flex loss
  • Redesigned bottom shaping — updated inner bevel and bevel contour increase pre-takeoff stability and improve board recovery after touchdowns
  • Increased waterline — promotes earlier foil engagement; the board accelerates into flight more readily than a narrow outline
  • Eight volume options (62–142L) — covers a wide range of rider weights and ability levels within a single consistent design
  • Footstrap inserts included — standard configuration compatible with most strap systems
  • Multi-discipline compatibility — works equally for wing foiling, prone foiling and SUP foiling

Real-World Feel

The Ascend CU feels purposeful — a board built to get out of the way once you're flying. Pop-up from the water is clean and requires less effort than older shapes; the redesigned bevel shaping genuinely makes a difference on that first stroke out of a trough or following a touchdown. In flight, the CU construction's stiffness means foot inputs reach the foil directly, which becomes increasingly noticeable as your technique sharpens. In choppier UK conditions — where touchdowns happen more often than we'd like — the improved recovery shaping is a practical benefit rather than a marketing claim.

Setup and Fit

Deep Tuttle foil box, compatible with the full current Naish foil range and other major brands using the same standard. Footstrap inserts included; straps sold separately. Mast and foil sold separately — see the wing foiling collection for compatible packages. Board available as board only; add your preferred foil separately.

Materials and Construction

Carbon Ultra (CU) build: CNC-machined EPS foam core, vacuum laminated with a carbon and biaxial glass layup. Full PVC reinforcement in the foil box channel for rigidity at the mast connection. This construction keeps weight down without sacrificing the stiffness needed for direct, responsive feel between rider and foil.

Size Guide

Size Length Best For
62L 4'11" Experienced foilers, lighter riders (under 75 kg), performance wing foiling and prone
72L 5'2" Progressing intermediate to advanced, 65–80 kg, good all-round choice for UK conditions
82L 5'6" Intermediate riders, 70–90 kg, practical balance of stability and performance
92L 5'10" Riders building consistency, 80–100 kg, generous volume with performance shaping
102L 6'2" Heavier riders transitioning from a beginner board, or those wanting more platform
112L 6'5" Heavier riders (95–110 kg) wanting CU performance construction with ample volume
122L 6'7" Larger riders or those who want maximum stability with performance build quality
142L 6'10" Heaviest riders or those who want a high-volume option in CU construction

Volume selection: a common starting point for intermediate riders is a volume close to your body weight in kilograms. Experienced foilers often go 10–20% below body weight; riders newer to the discipline typically go slightly above. The 82L is a broadly useful all-rounder for most UK riders in the 75–90 kg range. Call us if you're unsure — size selection on foil boards matters more than on most water sport equipment.

Pairs Well With

Works with the full Naish foil range — pair with the Excalibur for speed and downwind runs, or the Siren for versatile everyday wing foiling. Browse all foil boards and our wing foiling collection for complete setups. Accessories including board bags, leashes and strap sets are available in our wingfoiling accessories section.

Why We Stock It

The Ascend CU sits in the most competitive part of the market — dedicated wing foil boards in the 60–140L range — and it holds its own because the construction quality and shape updates are genuine rather than incremental. It's a board we're happy to recommend without caveats, and we stock the full size run because riders come in very different shapes, weights and ability levels.

FAQs

What construction is the Naish Hover Wing Ascend CU?

CU stands for Carbon Ultra — CNC-machined EPS core, vacuum laminated with carbon and biaxial glass, with full PVC reinforcement at the foil box. It's a lightweight, stiff construction aimed at riders who want performance without paying hollow-carbon prices.

What foil box does the Hover Wing Ascend CU use?

Deep Tuttle foil box, compatible with the Naish foil range and other manufacturers using the same standard mast foot connection.

Which size Naish Hover Wing Ascend CU should I choose?

A useful starting point: look for a volume in litres roughly equal to your body weight in kilograms for intermediate-level riding. Experienced foilers go smaller; riders newer to the discipline go bigger. The 82L is a broadly useful starting point for most UK riders in the 75–90 kg range. We're happy to talk it through if you're unsure.

Can the Hover Wing Ascend CU be used for prone foiling and SUP foiling?

Yes — the foil box and outline are compatible with prone and SUP foiling. The shape is optimised for wing foiling but is a capable crossover option, particularly in the smaller sizes.

Is there a difference between the Ascend CU and other Naish foil board models?

The Ascend CU is a dedicated wing foil board with performance construction. The Wingsurfer Board uses Glass Wood Sandwich construction and is designed for beginners. The Odyssey DW is purpose-built for downwinding with a narrower, longer outline suited to tracking swells.

Does the Naish Hover Wing Ascend CU come with footstraps?

Footstrap inserts are included in the board. Straps are sold separately and available in our wingfoiling accessories section.
