Description
The Sabfoil Onda 940 Front Wing is the speed-focused all-rounder of the Onda surf range. Part of the Sabfoil hydrofoil system, its high aspect ratio and flat profile deliver manoeuvrability and real pace, making it a natural choice for surfing and wave riding in medium wind — easy to carve, quick to accelerate, and happy being winged onto the wave and then surfed.
At 1100cm² with a high 8.00 aspect ratio, the Onda 940 trades a little low-end lift for glide and top-end speed, rewarding riders who want an efficient, fast surf wing with a clean, locked-in feel.
Who It's For
- Discipline: Surf, wave and freeride foiling in medium wind
- Level: Intermediate to advanced foilers who want speed and manoeuvrability over maximum early lift
- Best for: Riders who wing onto a wave and then surf it in neutral, wanting a fast, locked-in feel through turns
Key Features
- 1100cm² surface area – enough lift for medium-wind surf sessions without excess drag
- 8.00 aspect ratio – high aspect for glide and top-end speed with a clean, locked-in carving feel
- Flat surf profile – quick to accelerate and manoeuvrable for wave riding
- Full carbon with core construction – around 830g, durable and consistent under load
- T8 wing-fuselage connection – compatible with Sabfoil's T8 Kraken Modular System
- SAB Pro Finish – hand-sanded matte surface with 0-thickness graphics, Made in Italy
Real-World Feel
The Onda 940 carves a clean, confident line with real pace behind it — it's happy accelerating down the line and holding speed through a bottom turn rather than bleeding it off. Low-end speed sits around 13–15kn, with top-end reaching 22–24kn for a 75kg rider, so it's genuinely quick for a surf wing. It rewards riders who've got their pumping and positioning dialled in, giving back speed and glide rather than maximum forgiveness.
Setup / Fit
The Onda 940 uses the Sabfoil T8 wing-fuselage connection — pair it with a compatible Sabfoil T8 fuselage, mast and stabiliser to complete your hydrofoil. Need help building a complete setup? Speak to the team at Northern Watersports.

Why We Stock It
Not every surf wing needs to prioritise early lift and forgiveness — sometimes speed and a clean carving line matter more, and that's exactly what the Onda 940 delivers. We stock it for riders who've moved past their first surf foil and want genuine pace on a wave.
FAQs
What is the Sabfoil Onda 940 Front Wing?
It's a 1100cm² high-aspect surf front wing built for speed and manoeuvrability in medium wind, part of Sabfoil's Onda surf range and using the T8 wing-fuselage connection.
How fast is the Onda 940?
Low-end speed is around 13–15kn, with a top-end of 22–24kn for a 75kg rider, making it one of the faster wings in the Onda range.
Is the Onda 940 good for beginners?
It's better suited to intermediate to advanced foilers who already have their pumping and wave positioning sorted — beginners may find more forgiveness in a lower-aspect Onda wing like the 945.
What fuselage does the Onda 940 need?
It uses Sabfoil's T8 wing-fuselage connection, so it requires a T8-spec Kraken fuselage rather than a T6 one.
Can the Onda 940 be surfed as well as winged?
Yes, it's designed to be winged onto a wave and then surfed in neutral, making it a genuine dual-purpose wing for wave riders.
