Description

The Sabfoil Onda 945 Front Wing is the most versatile wing in the Onda surf range — built to tackle medium-power waves in lighter wind. Part of the Sabfoil hydrofoil system, a medium aspect ratio, flat profile and generous surface area combine manoeuvrability with plenty of lift and a useful turn of speed, so you can carve, accelerate and stay locked into the wave's pocket.

It's equally at home being winged onto the wave and then surfed in neutral — a forgiving, fun wing that suits everyone from improvers to experienced surf-foilers. With 1300cm² and a 6.90 aspect ratio, the Onda 945 is the lift machine of the range — early to take off and stable underfoot, while the flat section keeps it loose and playful through turns.

Who It's For

  • Discipline: Surf, wave and freeride foiling, particularly in lighter wind
  • Level: Improvers through to experienced surf-foilers
  • Best for: Riders wanting early lift and forgiving stability in light wind or medium-power waves, without giving up turn of speed

Key Features

  • 1300cm² surface area – the lift machine of the Onda range, early to take off and stable underfoot
  • 6.90 aspect ratio – medium aspect balancing lift, stability and a useful turn of speed
  • Flat surf profile – keeps the wing loose and playful through turns despite the generous surface area
  • Full carbon with core construction – around 1100g, durable and consistent under load
  • T8 wing-fuselage connection – compatible with Sabfoil's T8 Kraken Modular System
  • SAB Pro Finish – hand-sanded matte surface with 0-thickness graphics, Made in Italy

Real-World Feel

The Onda 945 lifts early and holds a stable, confidence-inspiring platform, making it forgiving in lighter wind or weaker waves where a smaller wing would struggle to generate enough lift. Low-end speed sits around 10–12kn, with top-end reaching 19–21kn for a 75kg rider — plenty of pace for carving and staying in the pocket, without needing to work hard for lift. It's genuinely dual-purpose, happy being winged onto a wave and then surfed in neutral.

Setup / Fit

The Onda 945 uses the Sabfoil T8 wing-fuselage connection — pair it with a compatible Sabfoil T8 fuselage, mast and stabiliser to complete your hydrofoil. Need help building a complete setup? Speak to the team at Northern Watersports.

Why We Stock It

Light-wind and medium-power wave days are common on the UK coast, and a wing that lifts early without sacrificing turn of speed makes those sessions genuinely fun rather than frustrating. We stock the Onda 945 because it's the most versatile, forgiving option in the range for exactly that scenario.

FAQs

What is the Sabfoil Onda 945 Front Wing?

It's a 1300cm² medium-aspect surf front wing built for early lift and stability in light wind and medium-power waves, part of Sabfoil's Onda surf range using the T8 wing-fuselage connection.

How fast is the Onda 945?

Low-end speed is around 10–12kn, with a top-end of 19–21kn for a 75kg rider — plenty of pace for carving while still lifting early.

Is the Onda 945 good for improvers?

Yes, its early lift and stable platform make it one of the more forgiving wings in the Onda range, suiting improvers as well as experienced surf-foilers.

What fuselage does the Onda 945 need?

It uses Sabfoil's T8 wing-fuselage connection, so it requires a T8-spec Kraken fuselage rather than a T6 one.

How does the Onda 945 compare to the Onda 940?

The 945 is larger with a lower aspect ratio, giving more early lift and forgiveness in light wind, while the 940 is smaller and higher-aspect, prioritising speed and a locked-in carving feel in medium wind.
