Description
The Slingshot Sentry V3 is the bar Slingshot built to do everything — big air, freeride, waves, freestyle — without getting in your way. It is one of the cleanest, most no-nonsense kite control bars on the market: well-thought-out safety, a direct feel through the lines, and refinements in V3 that address every small niggle riders had with earlier iterations.
Available in 45 cm and 53 cm bar widths, the Sentry V3 pairs a 26 mm diameter aluminium bar with Slingshot's Variable FlyTech SK-99 Dyneema lines. Whether you are blasting across the Dee Estuary on a twin-tip or learning to unhook for the first time, this bar gives you the control and the confidence to push further.
Who It's For
- Discipline: Freeride, freestyle, big air, waves, foil
- Level: Intermediate to advanced (accessible for capable beginners moving off a trainer bar)
- Best for: Riders who want one bar that works across multiple kites and riding styles without compromise
Key Features
- SureShot Quick Release – single-handed, intuitive flag-out safety with a clean re-engagement even in messy conditions
- Variable FlyTech SK-99 Dyneema lines – anti-stretch Dyneema SK-99 fibres deliver direct, consistent kite response with minimal line creep over time
- 26 mm bar diameter – slimmer than the industry standard, reducing grip fatigue on long sessions without sacrificing control
- MotoPlush EVA grip – soft, durable grip compound that stays tactile with cold or wet hands
- SlimTrim Depower Cleat – low-profile, out-of-the-way cleat that makes precise power trimming easy mid-session
- Auto-unswivel system – keeps your centre lines tangle-free so you spend less time sorting out gear and more time riding
- Compact floats – low-drag floats that keep bar ends above the water without creating drag on the lines
- Low-drag leader lines – slimmer leader construction reduces water drag and improves bar feel
- Smaller chicken loop & donkey dick (V3 new) – tighter tolerances prevent accidental unhooking mid-trick or in messy chop
- Redesigned swivel & leash ring (V3 new) – smoother rotation under load, easier to re-connect after a safety deployment
- Raised finger ridge (V3 new) – subtle tactile reference point that keeps your hands centred and improves kite-position awareness without looking down
Real-World Feel
This bar has a directness to it that you notice within the first few minutes on the water. The 26 mm tube feels more natural in the hand than chunkier bars, especially once your forearms start to tire late in a session. The SureShot release is reassuringly simple — no puzzle to solve, just pull and it goes. The smaller chicken loop is a genuine improvement if you ride unhooked: false hooking mid-manoeuvre on an earlier bar is the kind of thing that puts you off unhooking entirely, and Slingshot have sorted it here. Trimming power with the SlimTrim cleat is quick and positive. Overall, it is the kind of bar that disappears into the background and lets you focus on riding.
Setup and Fit
The Sentry V3 runs a standard four-line configuration. Bar width is chosen by your kite size and riding style: the 45 cm suits smaller kites (typically 7–10 m) and riders who prefer a tighter, more responsive feel; the 53 cm is the more versatile choice for larger kites (10–17 m) and those who ride predominantly freeride or use bigger kites in lighter winds. Slingshot pairs each bar width with a strategically matched Variable FlyTech line length — check your kite's manual or ask us if you are unsure which combination suits your quiver. The depower throw and trim strap are straightforward to adjust and the system works with any current Slingshot kite.

Pairs Well With
The Sentry V3 is designed around the full Slingshot kite range. It works particularly well with the Slingshot RPM (all-round freeride and wakestyle), the Slingshot Machine (big air and boosting), and the Slingshot B3 (waves and strapless freestyle). Why We Stock It
We are a rider-owned shop on the Wirral, and the kit we stock has to earn its place. The Sentry V3 is here because it is genuinely one of the most well-rounded bars available at this price point — it does not overcomplicate things, the safety system is properly reliable, and the V3 upgrades are real improvements rather than marketing noise. It is the bar several of us reach for on a regular session. If you have questions about whether it suits your kite or your riding, give us a shout — we are happy to talk it through.
FAQs
Which bar width should I choose — 45 cm or 53 cm?
As a general guide, the 45 cm suits smaller kites (roughly 7–10 m) and riders who want a quicker, more responsive feel — popular for freestyle and high-wind sessions. The 53 cm is the more versatile option for larger kites (10–17 m) and all-round freeride riding. If you ride one kite in a wide wind range, the 53 cm is usually the safer bet. Not sure? Drop us a message and we will help you decide.
Is the Sentry V3 compatible with older Slingshot kites?
Yes. The Sentry V3 uses Slingshot's standard four-line bridle system and is compatible with all current and recent Slingshot kites. If you have an older kite with a different bridle configuration, get in touch and we can check compatibility for you.
How does the SureShot Quick Release work?
The SureShot is a push-away, pull-up release mounted on the centre of the bar. To activate, push the outer sleeve away from you and pull the inner pin upward — the chicken loop releases and the kite flags out on the safety leash. Re-engagement is a single-step reconnect, even in the water. It is one of the more intuitive systems out there.
What is SK-99 Dyneema and why does it matter?
SK-99 is a high-performance grade of Dyneema fibre with a very high strength-to-weight ratio and extremely low stretch. Less stretch means the kite responds more directly when you bar in or out — you get a more honest, predictable feel from the kite rather than a rubbery lag. It also holds its length better over a full season compared to cheaper polyester lines.
Can I use the Sentry V3 for foiling?
Yes. The bar works well for kite foiling — the direct, low-stretch lines suit the precise inputs foiling demands, and the 45 cm width pairs well with the smaller kites typically used for foiling. The compact floats and low-drag leader lines are also a plus when the bar ends are dragging in the water on a tack.
Do you offer advice on setting up the bar for the first time?
Absolutely. We are a rider-owned shop and happy to walk you through the setup over the phone or in person if you are local to the Wirral. You can also find Slingshot's official rigging guides on the Slingshot website, and we are always on the end of an email if anything is unclear.
