Description

The CORE Sensor 4S is the standard-edition bar from CORE's latest fourth-generation control system — a kitesurfing bar built around straightforward engineering and dependable safety. Part of the wider CORE range, it runs SFS+ Single Frontline Safety, ships with 24m Vario lines as standard, and fits every CORE kite designed for the 4S system. The result is a bar that gets out of the way and lets you focus on the session.

This is CORE's entry point into the Sensor 4S family. You get the same SFS+ safety system and the same refined geometry as the Pro, without the carbon fibre bar or Tectanium 2 line upgrade. If you want all the core control-bar functions at a more accessible price point, this is the one to buy.

Who It's For

Discipline: Kitesurfing — twin-tip, surfboard, or foil
Level: Intermediate through to advanced
Best for: Riders who want CORE's fourth-generation bar system without the premium line upgrade; anyone moving up from an older CORE bar who wants a straight swap in; riders who do the majority of their sessions on standard 20–24m lines

Key Features

  • SFS+ Single Frontline Safety — full flag-out depower via the front lines; now compatible with fixed-bridle kites as well as standard CORE models
  • 50 cm / 46.5 cm adjustable width — click-in/click-out bar-end system lets you switch width in seconds on the beach
  • 24m Vario lines (18+4+2m) — pre-stretched, spliced and sewn ends; line length can be set to 24, 22, 20, or 18m using the extension sections
  • Auto Untwist — ceramic bearing below the bar prevents front-line twist building up during your session
  • 4:1 trim adjuster — fast and precise depower cleat with a proven, low-friction action
  • CIC Release — push-out chicken-loop release with straightforward reassembly; no tools required
  • GripLoc bar coating — textured, water-activated grip along the full bar length
  • Universal pigtails — compatible with CORE kites and many other brands
  • High V / Low V line split — switch between Y-split and low-V configuration to suit different kites or shorter line setups
  • Stealth Winders — integrated line winders built into the bar ends keep things tidy between sessions

Real-World Feel

The Sensor 4S standard bar has a direct, connected feel that suits most riding styles well. The bar geometry is unchanged from the Pro version, so steering response is sharp without being twitchy. The trim adjuster runs smoothly even with wet, cold hands — a real-world consideration if you're riding off the North Wales coast or any UK beach where conditions can change quickly. The SFS+ system gives a clean, complete flag-out with no residual pull, which matters when things go wrong. The Vario lines are pre-stretched and hold their tuning well across a full season of regular riding.

Setup / Fit

The Sensor 4S ships ready to rig. Loop the Vario lines out to your preferred length (24, 22, 20, or 18m), attach your kite pigtails, and you're away. Bar width adjusts via the click-in end system — set it before your first session and it stays put. The High V / Low V switch is a simple physical adjustment at the front-line split point. No special tools needed for any part of setup or adjustment.

Materials

The bar itself is constructed from a long-fibre carbon-reinforced high-performance polymer — stiff, light, and robust enough that no titanium insert is required. Line winders, adjusters and hardware are corrosion-resistant throughout. The Vario lines are German-made, pre-stretched polyester with braided, sewn splice ends.

Pairs Well With

The Sensor 4S is designed to work with the full current CORE kite lineup. Browse our CORE collection to see the kites it pairs with, or visit our bars and lines section to compare the full 4S range including the Pro and Compact Pro versions.

Why We Stock It

At Northern Watersports we ride the kit we sell. The Sensor 4S system is what several of us have on our own bars, and we genuinely rate CORE's approach to safety and simplicity. The SFS+ system has a clean, confidence-inspiring action that we're happy to recommend to any rider stepping up to a new bar. We're an authorised CORE retailer and can advise on which bar width and line length suits your kites and your riding style — come in to the shop or drop us a message.

FAQs

What's the difference between the CORE Sensor 4S and the Sensor 4S Pro?

The main differences are the bar material and the lines. The standard Sensor 4S uses a carbon-reinforced polymer bar and ships with Vario polyester lines. The Sensor 4S Pro adds a carbon fibre composite bar (labelled Carbon Soul) and upgrades the lines to Tectanium 2 — thinner, stiffer powerlines with improved UV protection. The Pro also comes in a 45cm/41.5cm compact width option in addition to the standard 50cm/46.5cm. Safety features, trim adjuster, and overall geometry are the same across both.

What kites is the CORE Sensor 4S compatible with?

It's designed for all CORE kites built for the 4S bar system. The SFS+ safety is also compatible with fixed-bridle kites such as the CORE Pace Pro, and the universal pigtails mean it'll work with many kites from other brands. If you're unsure about compatibility with your specific kite, get in touch and we'll check for you.

What line lengths can I use with the Sensor 4S?

The bar ships with 24m Vario lines built in three sections (18+4+2m). You can set the effective length to 24, 22, 20, or 18m by removing the extension sections, so one set of lines covers most session requirements.

What is SFS+ and how does it work?

SFS stands for Single Frontline Safety. When you activate the release, the kite depowers completely via the front lines — it flags out with no residual pull, making it straightforward to recover or let go. The + update makes the system compatible with fixed-bridle kites as well as standard swept-tip designs. It's been independently tested by IKO.

What bar width should I choose?

The standard Sensor 4S comes in a 50cm/46.5cm adjustable width only. Larger kites (12m and above) generally feel better on 50cm; smaller kites and freestyle riders often prefer the narrower setting. The Pro version adds a 45cm/41.5cm compact option for riders who want a shorter bar across the full range.

Does the CORE Sensor 4S come with a bar bag?

Yes — the complete package includes the bar, 24m Vario lines (18+4+2m), standard loop/stick set, short safety leash, combo ring, bar bag, and manual.
