Description

The CORE Sensor 4S Pro is the performance-tier option in CORE's fourth-generation kitesurfing control bar range. It takes the standard Sensor 4S layout and adds a carbon fibre composite bar and Tectanium 2 powerlines — two upgrades that sharpen steering response and reduce line diameter without touching the underlying system that makes the 4S one of the tidiest bars on the market. Part of the full CORE range at Northern Watersports, it's available in two widths: the standard 50cm/46.5cm and a compact 45cm/41.5cm for smaller kites or riders who prefer a closer grip.

The Pro shares the same SFS+ Single Frontline Safety, High/Low V switching, CIC release, and 4:1 trim adjuster as the standard 4S. What changes is the quality of materials in your hands and on your lines. Tectanium 2 is stiffer and thinner than standard polyester at the same breaking strength, which means less drag in the water and crisper feedback on every edge. The carbon bar transmits steering inputs without flex. For riders who spend serious time on the water and want every component at its best, the Pro is the right choice.

Who It's For

Discipline: Kitesurfing across all styles — freeride, wave, freestyle, and foil
Level: Intermediate to advanced; particularly suited to riders who are particular about bar feel
Best for: Regular riders who want the sharpest available steering response from a CORE bar; anyone running a quiver of kites across different sizes; riders moving from an older CORE bar who want the full upgrade

Key Features

  • Carbon Soul bar — carbon fibre composite construction; stiffer and lighter than the standard polymer bar, with direct feedback across the full grip width
  • Tectanium 2 Vario lines — 24m (18+4+2m) powerlines with improved UV protection; thinner diameter than standard lines at equivalent strength, made in Germany
  • SFS+ Single Frontline Safety — complete flag-out depower with no residual pull; independently tested by IKO; compatible with both standard and fixed-bridle kites
  • High V / Low V switching — adjust the front-line split between Y-configuration and low-V in seconds to suit your kite type or line length
  • Two bar widths — available in 50cm/46.5cm (standard) or 45cm/41.5cm (compact); choose at the time of purchase
  • Click-in / click-out bar-end width adjustment — switch between the two width settings on the beach without tools
  • CIC Release — push-out chicken-loop release with quick, tool-free reassembly
  • 4:1 trim adjuster — fast, low-friction depower cleat that works smoothly in cold and wet conditions
  • Auto Untwist — ceramic bearing below the bar prevents front-line twist accumulating
  • GripLoc bar coating — water-activated textured grip along the full bar length
  • Universal pigtails — compatible with CORE kites and many third-party kites
  • Stealth Winders — integrated line winders at each bar end for clean storage
  • Self-lubricating, replaceable centre-line inserts — low-friction routing that can be replaced when worn

Real-World Feel

The step from the standard Sensor 4S to the Pro is noticeable but not dramatic — the improvement is in precision rather than character. The Tectanium 2 lines transmit pressure changes faster and with less stretch than standard Vario lines, so the information coming through the bar is slightly sharper on every input. On a responsive kite like the CORE XR or GTS, that translates to more accurate edge control in the air and a better read of when the window is loading. The carbon bar adds to this by removing any residual flex across the grip, though in practice both bars are already very stiff. The overall system feel is connected, direct, and predictable — exactly what you want when conditions are testing you.

Setup / Fit

Choose your bar width at the time of order — 50cm/46.5cm is the standard choice for most kite sizes and riders; the compact 45cm/41.5cm suits smaller kites, boosting, and riders who prefer a closer reach. Both widths can be further adjusted via the click-in end system on the beach. The Tectanium 2 Vario lines ship at 24m and can be shortened to 22, 20, or 18m using the extension sections. High V / Low V switching is a quick physical adjustment at the front-line split point. The complete bar arrives ready to rig with all components attached.

Materials

Bar: carbon fibre composite (Carbon Soul construction). Lines: Tectanium 2 — German-made, pre-stretched, with braided and sewn splice ends and an improved UV-protective coating over the previous generation. Hardware: corrosion-resistant fittings throughout. Centre-line routing uses self-lubricating polymer inserts that are field-replaceable.

Why We Stock It

We're a rider-owned shop on the Wirral and we're authorised CORE dealers. A few of us run the Sensor 4S Pro on our own bars, and we can give you an honest comparison between the standard and Pro versions based on actual sessions rather than spec sheets. If you're trying to decide between the two, speak to us — we'll tell you straight whether the upgrade is worth it for your style of riding. We also hold stock rather than ordering on demand, so UK delivery is fast.

FAQs

What is Tectanium 2 and why does it matter?

Tectanium 2 is CORE's high-performance line material — a composite fibre construction that achieves higher stiffness and lower stretch than standard Dyneema or polyester at the same diameter. The 2 designation refers to the updated version with improved UV protection over the previous generation. In practice it means slightly crisper feedback from your kite and lines that hold their tuning longer in UV-heavy environments.

Is the Sensor 4S Pro available in different sizes?

Yes — it comes in two bar widths: 50cm/46.5cm (standard) and 45cm/41.5cm (compact). The compact is suited to smaller kites and riders who prefer a shorter reach. Each bar width is adjustable between its two measurements via the click-in end system. Both versions ship with 24m Tectanium 2 Vario lines.

How does High/Low V switching work?

The front-line split on the Sensor 4S Pro can be configured as a high V (also called Y-split) or a low V. CORE kites are optimised for the high V setting. The low V configuration is worth considering for aggressive riding on shorter lines (below 20m) or when using third-party kites that work better with a lower split point. Switching between the two is a quick physical adjustment that doesn't require tools.

What's the difference between the Sensor 4S Pro and the standard Sensor 4S?

Three main things: the Pro has a carbon fibre composite bar (vs the reinforced polymer bar on the standard), Tectanium 2 lines (vs standard Vario polyester lines), and the additional 45cm/41.5cm compact width option. The safety system (SFS+), trim adjuster, CIC release, Auto Untwist, and all other features are identical across both versions.

What's included in the box?

Carbon Soul bar, 24m Tectanium 2 Vario lines (18+4+2m), standard loop/stick set, short safety leash, combo ring, bar bag, and manual.

Is the CORE Sensor 4S Pro compatible with other brands' kites?

The universal pigtails and SFS+ safety system are compatible with many kites from other manufacturers, including fixed-bridle kites. Compatibility depends on the specific kite — get in touch and we can advise on your particular setup.
