Description
The Naish Chimera is the 2026 crossover foil board for riders who don't want to own five different boards. Wing it, prone it, tow it, run downwinders — it handles all of it without compromise, across ten sizes from 38L to 148L. Part of the Naish 2026 range and available in more sizes than any other board in the Chimera family, it's the honest workhorse of Naish's wing foil board line-up.
Construction is a dual-density PVC core with EPS sandwich — durable, light, and stiff enough to feel responsive underfoot without the weight penalty of a full carbon layup. The narrow, streamlined mid-length outline is matched with a two-stage rocker: flatter through the mid-section for glide and early lift, with tail rocker that gives a clean pop on take-off. Beveled rails minimise drag in the air and release cleanly from the water on touch-down. The recessed W concave deck locks your front foot in the right place whether you're winging, paddling into a wave, or getting towed out the back.
Who It's For
Riders who do more than one discipline and want one board that keeps up across all of them. The Chimera covers wing foiling, prone surf foiling, downwind and tow foiling without needing a shape compromise in any direction. With ten sizes ranging from the pocket-sized 38L for very experienced riders to the 148L for heavier or earlier-stage foilers, it covers more of the foiling population than almost any other single model. If you're on the Wirral or the Dee Estuary on different days and want one board in the van, this is a serious answer to that question.
Key Features
- Dual-Density PVC Core / EPS Sandwich — balances durability and light weight; stiffer and more responsive than straight EPS, without the cost of full carbon
- Two-Stage Rocker — flatter mid-section for glide and efficient pump; tail lift for a clean pop off the water
- Deep W Concave and Increased Waterline — quick starts, stable touchdowns, and reduced drag when back on the water between foil runs
- Recessed W Concave Deck — ergonomic front foot placement that locks in naturally whether winging, prone paddling or tow foiling
- Beveled Rails — maximise efficiency in flight; release smoothly and quietly from the surface on landing
- Y-Pattern Footstrap Inserts — six-point configuration for precise strap placement across different disciplines; footstraps sold separately
- Longer Foil Box on Larger Sizes — extended track range on the bigger volumes gives more fore-aft tuning to suit different foil setups and riding styles
- Ten-Size Range (38–148L) — covers everything from lightweight experienced riders in strong wind to heavy or progressing riders in lighter air
Real-World Feel
The Chimera is a genuine do-it-all board, which means it's not going to out-specialise a dedicated race board in a race or a tiny prone shape in pumping surf. What it does is give you a board you can grab for any session without thinking twice about whether it's the right tool. The two-stage rocker means pump-to-fly feels natural across conditions; the W concave deck keeps your feet where they need to be without having to think about it. Smaller sizes are snappy and reactive in the air — the 38L and 48L are serious performance shapes for experienced riders. The bigger volumes (108L and up) are noticeably stable for learning or for paddling into lumps on a downwinder. Across all sizes, the beveled rails give a distinctly smooth, clean feel in the air compared to a blunter outline.
Setup and Fit
The Chimera uses a foil track system — longer on larger sizes (108L and above) to accommodate the wider range of mast positions that big-volume riding requires. Compatible with the Naish foil range and most standard foil track systems. Footstrap inserts are Y-pattern, giving you flexibility to set up for wing foiling (typically no straps or rear strap only), prone or tow foiling (full strap setup), or downwind (rear strap as a security option). Footstraps are not included — add them from your foil setup or pick them up separately.
Materials and Construction
The Chimera is built around a dual-density PVC core with an EPS sandwich construction — a proven layup that provides the stiffness and pop of a high-density core with the light weight of EPS filler material. This sits between straight EPS (lighter but softer) and full carbon (stiffer but more expensive and less repairable). The result is a board that's durable enough for daily use across multiple disciplines, light enough that the swing weight stays low in the air, and stiff enough to transfer pump energy efficiently.

Unsure on size? The most common starting point for an average-build rider (75–85kg) coming into foiling is the 88L or 108L. More experienced riders on familiar foil setups typically drop to the 68L or 78L. Get in touch and we'll help you dial it in.
Pairs Well With
The Chimera's foil track is optimised for the Naish foil range — the Jet and Thrust systems are natural pairings for wing foiling, and the Thrust works well for prone and downwind use too. Browse the full wing foiling range for wings, and pick up a wingfoiling leash to complete the setup. Footstraps are sold separately — ask us which setup suits your discipline mix.
Why We Stock It
The Chimera answers the question we get asked most often: "what's the one board I can use for everything?" Ten sizes means we can fit almost any rider, and the multi-discipline design genuinely holds up across conditions. It's what we'd put in our own van if we were travelling light and wanted one board that works everywhere.
FAQs
What disciplines is the Naish Chimera 2026 suitable for?
The Chimera is designed to cover wing foiling, prone surf foiling, tow foiling and downwind foiling — all from a single board shape. The Y-pattern footstrap inserts and extended foil box track on larger sizes give you the setup flexibility to switch between disciplines.
What size Naish Chimera 2026 should I get?
For an average-build rider (75–85kg) new to foiling, the 88L or 108L is the right starting point. Experienced foilers typically ride the 68L or 78L. Very experienced, lighter riders can go smaller. If you're unsure, call us — sizing a foil board isn't just about weight, it's about your foil setup and the conditions you're riding.
Does the Naish Chimera 2026 come with footstraps?
No — the Y-pattern footstrap inserts are built in, but footstraps themselves are sold separately. This is standard across the Naish foil range and allows you to configure the board for your discipline without being locked into a fixed strap position.
What's the difference between the Naish Chimera and the Naish Chimera Nvision?
The Chimera uses a dual-density PVC/EPS sandwich construction — durable, versatile and good value. The Chimera Nvision uses a hollow shell composite build with no foam core: roughly 2kg lighter, stiffer, and more expensive. The standard Chimera is the better choice for multi-discipline riders and those stepping up to performance foiling; the Nvision is for experienced riders who specifically want the lightest, most responsive construction available.
Is the Naish Chimera good for beginners?
In the larger sizes (108L and above), yes — there's enough volume and stability to learn the basics. The 148L is one of the most stable entry points in the range. If you're a complete beginner or want something specifically optimised for learning, the inflatable Chimera Air is also worth considering for its ease of transport and set-up.
What foil box does the Naish Chimera 2026 use?
The Chimera uses a foil track system (longer on larger sizes) compatible with the Naish foil range. The extended track on the bigger volumes gives more fore-aft adjustment range to suit different foil types and riding styles. Check foil compatibility with us before purchasing if you're running a non-Naish foil system.
