Description
The Naish Global is a directional kite surfboard built as a one-board answer to side-on and onshore sessions. Part of the Naish 2026 surfboard range, it is designed to get riders planing early, build speed quickly, and hold its own when conditions get punchy. Four sizes — 5'2 through 5'10 — cover a wide range of rider weights and wave types, keeping it relevant from smaller UK beach break right through to bigger, more powerful surf.
Construction uses UC Carbon strips on both the top and bottom deck, bamboo reinforcement through the stance zone, and additional rail reinforcement where you load the board hardest under turns. A V-bottom promotes smooth, progressive rail-to-rail transitions, and a round pin tail provides high-speed control and lets you get into tighter, more pocket-focused turns. Extra width through the nose and tail (more than the narrower Hookipa Quad) adds stability and early-planing support, making the board accessible across a broader range of conditions. A full deck pad is included — corduroy on the front two pieces for feel, diamond-embossed on the rear pad with arch grip and tail kick for traction.
Who It's For
Intermediate to advanced riders looking for a versatile directional they can take into a broad range of surf conditions — from head-high side-shore swell to bigger, more powerful days when you want a board that holds a line. It is also a practical choice if you want one board to cover most of your UK surf kiting sessions without needing a dedicated big-wave gun and a separate small-wave board. If you are comfortable on a twintip but new to directional kite surfing, the Global's forgiving width gives you more room to get the technique right.
Key Features
- UC Carbon strips top and bottom — lightweight, responsive laminate that keeps the board lively without sacrificing durability
- Bamboo reinforcement through the stance zone — impact resistance exactly where your feet load the board hardest
- Extra rail reinforcement — protects the edges through regular use and rocky shore breaks
- V-bottom hull — smooth, progressive rail-to-rail transitions for controlled, fluid turns
- Round pin tail — holds well at speed and allows tighter, more pocket-focused turns in bigger surf
- Future fin boxes (thruster setup) — secure, consistent fin fit; swap fins to dial in the board for different conditions
- Early-planing rocker — tuned for quick acceleration so you get going sooner and carry speed through flat sections
- Full deck pad included — corduroy front pieces for feel, diamond-embossed rear pad with arch grip and tail kick
Real-World Feel
On the water, the Global is more forgiving and accessible than a high-performance wave board. The wider outline means you do not need to be perfectly in the pocket to make the board work — it carries speed through less critical sections and does not punish small mistakes. Push it into a harder condition with decent power in the kite and it responds well: the V-bottom lets you drive through turns with control, and the round pin keeps the tail from sliding out unexpectedly. It is not designed to surf like a refined shortboard in overhead hollow surf — for that you want something narrower and with more rocker — but for the side-on, onshore and mixed UK days that make up most riders' sessions, it is a practical, capable choice that rewards progression.
Setup and Fit
The Global runs Future fin boxes in a thruster (three-fin) configuration. Fins are not included and need to be purchased separately — Future-compatible thruster fins in the 4–4.5 inch range are a reasonable starting point. Smaller fins give a looser, more skatey ride; larger fins add drive and hold for bigger surf. The board is designed to be ridden with footstraps — footpad positions are built into the deck pad. Check the pad layout on your chosen size, as stance options vary slightly across the range.
Materials and Construction
The Global 2026 uses UC Carbon strip laminate on both the top and bottom deck, providing stiffness and response without the weight of a full carbon layup. Bamboo reinforcement runs through the stance zone for impact resistance, and additional rail reinforcement is applied where sustained loading occurs during hard turns. This is a performance-oriented construction that prioritises a lively flex response and durability over entry-level foam builds, while remaining more repairable than a full prepreg construction.
Size Guide
| Size | Best For |
|---|---|
| 5'2 | Lighter riders (up to ~70 kg), smaller surf, more agile and snappy feel |
| 5'5 | Lighter to mid-weight riders (~65–80 kg), versatile all-rounder in most conditions |
| 5'7 | Mid-weight riders (~75–90 kg), good balance of planing speed and manoeuvrability |
| 5'10 | Heavier riders (85 kg+) or anyone wanting more planing area in marginal or light-wind conditions |
If you are between sizes and primarily kite in lighter winds or choppy onshore surf, go up. If your sessions are mainly side-off in reliably powered conditions, stay down for a more responsive feel. Not sure? Drop us a message — we ride these boards and can advise based on your weight, kite size and the conditions you most commonly ride.
Pairs Well With
The Global works across a broad kite range. For UK side-on and onshore sessions an all-round kite such as the Naish Pivot covers most bases; a dedicated surf/wave kite suits cleaner swell days. Connect via a bar and lines setup comfortable for directional riding. Browse the complete kitesurfing range for everything else you need, and explore the full kite surfboard selection if you want to compare against other directional options.
Why We Stock It
We are a rider-owned shop on the Wirral, and we know that UK kite surfers need boards that work in mixed, often imperfect conditions — not just the pumping offshore days you see in video edits. The Global's combination of forgiving width, solid construction and genuine versatility makes it one of the more useful directionals available at this price point. It is the kind of board you can reach for on most days rather than leaving it in the van because conditions are not quite right.
FAQs
Does the Naish Global 2026 come with fins?
No. The Global uses Future fin boxes in a thruster configuration, but fins are not included and must be purchased separately. Future-compatible thruster fins are widely available from most surf and kite retailers.
Is the Naish Global 2026 suitable for beginners?
Not really. It is designed for intermediate to advanced riders who are comfortable on directional boards and can manage a kite in surf. Beginners would be better starting on a twintip and progressing to directionals over time.
What is the difference between the Naish Global and the Naish Hookipa?
The Global carries more width through the nose and tail than the Hookipa Quad, making it more stable and forgiving — particularly in onshore and side-on conditions. The Hookipa is a narrower, more surf-focused board for riders who want a high-performance wave feel and are comfortable in critical surf.
Can I ride the Naish Global 2026 without a kite?
It is possible but the board is built specifically for kite surfing. The rocker, concave and pad layout are all designed around kite use. It is not a substitute for a dedicated surfboard.
What size Naish Global should I ride?
As a rough guide: 5'2 for riders up to around 70 kg, 5'5 for 65–80 kg, 5'7 for 75–90 kg and 5'10 for 85 kg and above. Wind strength, surf size and personal preference all play a role — contact us if you want a specific recommendation.
Which kite works best with the Naish Global 2026?
The Global pairs well with most all-round and surf kites. In the UK, an 11–12 m kite covers the majority of powered sessions where the Global shines. A dedicated wave kite works well in cleaner, more powerful surf; an all-round kite like the Naish Pivot handles the variable conditions that make up most UK sessions.
