Description
The Circle One Bamboo 7'6" Mini Mal is a mid-length surfboard for surfers who want one board that carries them from early lessons through to relaxed, playful surfing. Shaped by Jeff Townsley, one of Britain's original surfboard shapers, it pairs a lively bamboo deck with genuinely useful everyday volume — and it ships with fins already fitted, so it's ready to paddle out straight away.
What makes the bamboo build different?
- 1.5mm genuine bamboo outer layer — laminated with epoxy resin for a responsive flex and a natural, grain-visible finish; every board's bamboo layer is slightly different, so yours will be one of a kind.
- Round pin tail — keeps the ride smooth and predictable through turns rather than skittish underfoot.
- Single concave running to a slight V through the tail — adds speed and makes the board feel lively once you start pushing into turns.
- FCS Fusion pre-glass fin boxes with a 2+1 setup — twin side fins plus a 6" centre fin, and a set of Honeycomb FCS-compatible fins is included, so there's nothing extra to buy before your first surf.
Sizing
7'6" x 21½" x 2½", 49.83 litres of volume. That's a solid, forgiving amount of float that suits riders from around 50kg up to 100kg, and it'll catch waves from waist-high right through to overhead.
What's in the box
The board, plus a full set of Honeycomb FCS-compatible fins fitted in the FCS Fusion boxes — no separate fin purchase needed to get started.
Who it's for
Beginners who want a stable platform for learning to paddle, pop up and trim with confidence; intermediates working on turns and cutbacks; and more experienced surfers after a forgiving, easy-going board for smaller or choppier days. It's a genuine one-board-does-it-all option for UK surf.
Rider verdict
A dependable mini mal that doesn't feel like a beginner board once you've found your feet — the bamboo deck adds a bit of character and flex you don't get from a standard pop-out, and having fins in the box means you're not left waiting on extra parts before your first session.
