Description
The Circle One Heritage 5'11" Twin Fin Fish takes the classic 1970s fish template and updates it with a modern bottom contour, built for surfers who want speed and flow rather than sharp, vertical turns. Finished in a striking gloss resin tint, it's shaped by Jeff Townsley, a founding figure in British surfboard shaping since the 1970s. At 32.69 litres it's a performance-oriented board that rewards riders who already have their fundamentals sorted.
What gives it that classic twin-fin speed?
- Wide fish outline with a fish tail — generous paddle power for the length, in the mould of the original 1970s knee-board-inspired fish shapes.
- Single concave under the front foot running to double concave through the fin area — breaks up the wide tail so it doesn't feel "sticky," directing water straight through the fins for extra acceleration and lift.
- Twin fin set-up on FCS II finboxes — the tool-free system used by more surfers worldwide than any other; fins are sold separately so you can find your own feel. Twin fins trade the drive of a centre fin for a looser, faster, more "skatey" pivot off the tail.
- Premium Epoxy Resin Tint finish — a deep, translucent colour mixed into the resin itself, so every hand-laminated board looks slightly different.
- EPS core, epoxy resin and Porcher E-glass fibreglass — with crosslink reinforcement on the deck and rails, a full-length 4-ply wood stringer for controlled flex, and a hot coat outer finish.
Sizing
5'11" x 20½" x 2½", 32.69 litres of volume. Rated intermediate to advanced, and happiest from knee-high through to overhead surf. Available in Bottle Green, Teal Blue or Duck Egg gloss tint.
What's in the box
The board only — FCS II fins are sold separately, so you can pick the twin-fin set that suits your style.
Who it's for
Shortboarders wanting a dedicated small-wave groveler, intermediate surfers looking to develop a more stylish, flowing style, and anyone chasing the loose, skatey feel of a classic twin-fin. This isn't a first board — it rewards surfers who already have solid fundamentals rather than those still learning to pop up.
Rider verdict
Genuinely fun in the kind of average, softer UK surf that makes up most sessions — it generates speed where a standard shortboard drags its heels, without giving up the classic fish paddle power.
