Description

The Reedin ElCapitano Stabilizer is the rear wing that completes your high-aspect foil setup. Two sizes — 155 and 180 cm² — cover the performance spectrum from fast and playful to stable and lifted, letting you tune the pitch character of your ElCapitano front wing to your weight and riding style. Oval mounting holes give ±0.5° of angle adjustment without shims, just by moving the stab forward or backward in its slots. At £169 for the 155 and £189 for the 180, it's the cheapest tuning decision you'll make with a measurable effect on how your foil rides.

Who It's For

Riders running any Reedin ElCapitano front wing who want to get the most out of their setup. The 155 suits lighter riders (under 80 kg), smaller ElCapitano front wings (575–995 cm²), and anyone who wants a faster, more direct feel with sharper turn initiation. The 180 is the all-round choice: more pitch stability and lift for everyday riding, more forgiving in choppier water, and the right starting point for riders over 75 kg or those running larger front wings (995–1695 cm²). If you're unsure which to start on, go with the 180.

Key Features

  • Two sizes: 155 cm² and 180 cm² — tune from fast and playful (155) to stable and lifted (180)
  • Oval mounting holes — adjust trim ±0.5° by sliding the stab forward (more lift) or backward (flatter, faster) in the slots; no shims needed
  • Designed for the ElCapitano system — tested alongside the ElCapitano front wing range for matched pitch balance
  • Full carbon construction — light, stiff, durable
  • Supplied with mounting screws

Real-World Feel

The difference between 155 and 180 is more noticeable than the numbers suggest. The 155 makes the foil feel keener — faster to initiate turns, quicker to respond to weight shifts, slightly more demanding in its neutral position. Experienced riders often prefer it for its directness. The 180 slows that response down in the best way: the foil feels calmer, recovery from mistakes takes less input, and longer glide runs feel more settled. Both stabs respond clearly to the fore-aft trim adjustment — a couple of millimetres forward noticeably increases lift at low speed; a couple back gives a flatter, faster cruise. Worth experimenting with once you know your baseline.

Setup and Fit

Bolt directly to any Reedin fuselage using the standard rear connection. Adjust trim by sliding the stab forward or backward in the oval mounting holes before tightening — no special tools required. Start centred (both holes equally split) for your first sessions to establish a baseline, then experiment from there. If you're building a new ElCapitano setup from scratch, message us with your front wing size and weight for a stab recommendation before ordering.

Materials

  • Construction: Full carbon composite

  • Fuselage connection: Reedin standard (all Reedin fuselages)

Pairs Well With

Why We Stock It

The stabilizer is the most overlooked tuning tool in a foil setup. Riders spend hours choosing a front wing and barely think about the rear — but the stab controls pitch, and pitch controls everything from stall angle to cruise height to turn feel. We stock both ElCapitano stabilizer sizes because we've seen the difference a single size change makes on the water. If you're building your first ElCapitano system, don't skip the stab decision — the right size makes the front wing feel like it was made for you.
