Description
The Reedin ElCapitano is a high-aspect performance front wing built around one defining number: AR 9.5. Six sizes from 575 to 1695 cm² carry exactly the same slender, efficient profile — step up or down the range and the flight character is consistent, only the lift and wind range change. From £459 for the powered 575 to £639 for the light-wind 1695, it's built for riders who have learned the fundamentals and want to discover what a wingfoil setup can actually do at speed: tighter upwind angles, longer downwind glides, and a sense of efficiency that mid-aspect foils simply don't offer.
Who It's For
Dedicated wingfoilers who are water-starting confidently and want to push towards performance, speed and upwind efficiency. Smaller sizes (575–795 cm²) suit racers and riders comfortable in powered, technical conditions; mid sizes (995–1195 cm²) are the all-round performance choice for most riders chasing longer runs and tighter upwind; larger sizes (1395–1695 cm²) unlock light-wind performance without giving up the locked-in feel of a high-aspect wing. The ElCapitano is not a first foil — it demands accurate weight placement and clean pumping technique. If you're still developing your water start and basic tacks, the Reedin FlightAttendant is the natural step before this.
Key Features
- Constant AR 9.5 across all six sizes — identical flight character from 575 to 1695 cm²; moving up or down the range changes area and wind range, not feel
- High-aspect slender profile — maximises lift-to-drag ratio for efficient upwind angles and fast, sustained glides
- Six sizes: 575, 795, 995, 1195, 1395, 1695 cm² — covers everything from powered racing to light-wind distance sessions within the same wing family
- Full carbon construction — stiff, responsive and lightweight; transfers rider input directly to flight path
- Reedin foil system compatible — direct bolt-on fit to all Reedin fuselages
- Precision handling — responsive to subtle weight shifts and clean pumping; exact technique is rewarded with locked-in, predictable flight
Real-World Feel
High-aspect foils don't feel the way mid-aspect foils do — the difference is larger than most riders expect. The ElCapitano accelerates deliberately: you commit to the pump sequence, the foil grips the water, and then you're up and travelling noticeably faster than you're used to. Upwind angles tighten, downwind glides stretch out, and on a good day you're making ground your old mid-aspect setup would have squandered. The trade-off is precision. Get your weight behind the mast, pump carelessly, or rush a tack and the ElCapitano will stall or breach without warning. Commit to clean, efficient riding and it rewards you with a quality of flight that genuinely feels like a step change in the sport.
Setup and Fit
The ElCapitano fits directly to Reedin's standard fuselage connection — no adapter needed if you're already running a Reedin setup. Pair with an FA Stabilizer: 198 cm² for the 575–795 range in powered conditions; 227 cm² as the all-round match for 995–1195; 271 cm² for the 1395–1695 in lighter wind. Compatible with all Reedin aluminium and carbon masts. If you're choosing between sizes or setting up from scratch, contact us — high-aspect wings have a narrower sweet spot than mid-aspect, and getting the size right matters more than usual.

Why We Stock It
We stock the ElCapitano because it represents a genuine step change in what wingfoiling can feel like. When a rider who has been flying a mid-aspect foil for a season gets onto an AR 9.5 wing for the first time and discovers what efficient upwind and real downwind glide feel like — that's the moment the sport clicks at a different level. The ElCapitano is honest about what it demands: clean technique and commitment. We ride high-aspect foils ourselves in the right conditions on the Solway and know first-hand how much they unlock on a good day. If you're ready for the step, this is the range to be on.
